How Will the Texans Match Up with the LA Rams?

NFL

With C.J. Stroud getting ready to roll for year three of his pro days, there is no question he wants to prove to people that he is the next big thing amongst the next generation of QBs in the NFL. He has the physique, athleticism, and everything that it takes on the football field to shine like a superstar. He has the talent on his offense as well, despite Joe Mixon having the possibility of missing the entire 2025-26 season. The Rams, however, have quite the talent, especially in the WR room, including superstar Davante Adams, who is one of their newest additions to the squad. The Rams do not have the strongest secondary by any means, but the Texans will still have to put up a fight to go into LA and take down the stacked Rams.

Stroud needs to set the tone after an outstanding second-year campaign by remaining effective against a Rams defense that is still strong but without Aaron Donald's domination. Houston's offensive line must provide Stroud time to establish connections with Christian Kirk, Tank Dell, and Nico Collins, so protecting him will be crucial. Maintaining the integrity of the Rams' pass rush will also depend on Nick Chubb and the establishment of a balanced run game. The Texans need Derek Stingley Jr. and his rookie secondary to stop Matthew Stafford's long-range attempts and exert constant pressure up front. Houston can begin the season with a memorable away victory if they manage time of possession, play disciplined football, and allow their playmakers to stay steady and hungry to dominate. Defenses should be on edge because of the Texans’ wide receiver group's exciting combination of speed, size, and adaptability. Both deep threats who can spread the field vertically and dependable possession targets who can move the chains will be advantageous to the offense. The slot's fast and speedy options, which offer safeties and mismatches against linebackers along with creative passing tactics, add another layer of momentum. With more depth all season long, Houston has the tools to be a force and stay competitive with any team out there.

The Texans have a clear chance to demonstrate that they are prepared to advance as contenders as they start Week One and get the year going. Making sure that C.J. stays healthy, maintaining discipline on both sides of the ball, and relying on striking a balance between the pass and run game will be big for them to focus on this year. They will definitely need to maintain a healthy balance of passing and rushing. To maintain momentum in Houston's advantage, the defense should stay aggressive, limiting explosive plays and forcing turnovers as well. The Texans can set the tone for the season by leaving Los Angeles with a 1-0 start to the year and going on enemy territory and leaving Rams fans stunned after a disappointing upset.
