If the WWE Draft Happened Today, Who Would Be Drafted?
At the end of last April, the WWE hosted its 18th draft in the company’s history. The WWE Draft started in 2002, and besides 2003, was held all the way until 2011. It started back up again in 2016, and besides 2022, has been an ongoing event for the last decade. Although it is not the NFL or NBA Draft, the WWE Draft holds its own importance, moving their superstars from one show to another, especially moving NXT talent up to the main roster. There have been reports of the WWE Draft occurring again, yet a specific date has not been announced as of this time. Towards the end of 2024, the WWE held a ‘transfer portal’ where various superstars switched brands, such as Damien Priest, Drew McIntyre, and The Miz heading to SmackDown, while Logan Paul and AJ Styles went to Raw. Today, we’ll determine which superstars will switch brands from a potential WWE Draft, starting a new wave of storytelling that many of the WWE Universe are ready to see.
Andrade & Rey Fenix - Raw
Let’s face it, the SmackDown Tag Team Division holds more value and has done much more than the Raw Tag Team Division over the past year or so. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day hold some truth in what they said the past few weeks as they mourn the ‘death’ of the tag team division. Reports have mentioned that the War Raiders and Otis from Alpha Academy are out of action due to injury. New Catch Republic hasn’t appeared on TV together in months. The L.W.O. aren’t on the superstar level where they can take the titles away from anyone as of now. The New Day is still mourning the death of the division. American Made can’t make significant moves until their leader, Chad Gable, returns from injury. Bron & Bron Security isn’t focused on the titles at the moment, while The Judgement Day sits back in the clubhouse and does nothing with the titles they hold.
Andrade and Rey Fenix would be great additions to the Raw Tag Team Division. This gives the opportunity to let Andrade work a different show than his ex-wife, Charlotte Flair, while working with different talent he may not have worked with in the past. Then, once this pairing of Andrade and Fenix is done, Fenix can pair back up with his brother Penta and form the Lucha Bros. With the pairing of the Lucha Bros, the Raw Tag Team Division will have a solid cornerstone behind it. Even if WWE decides to make Andrade and Fenix a solid tag team, these two would be a great addition to the Red brand.
Lyra Valkryria - SmackDown
Since being drafted from NXT to Raw, Lyra Valkyria has done a lot for the Red brand. Moving from NXT, where she was NXT Women’s Champion, to become the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. After losing to Becky Lynch at SummerSlam, Valkyria cannot challenge for the title again. While she could move on from the midcard, there’s a good chance she could be moved to SmackDown. Within the SmackDown women’s midcard, it’s virtually non-existent.
Chelsea Green, along with her ‘Secret Hervice’, Zelina Vega, and Giulia, seems like all within the midcard. Adding Valkyria as a face would be a great option to be the one to dethrone Giulia for her WWE Women’s United States Championship. This would make Valkyria the only woman thus far in WWE History to hold both the WWE Women’s Intercontinental and United States Championship. Holding both midcard titles will give the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion more confidence to help her make her way to that main event scene later on within her career.
Oba Femi - Raw
The current NXT Champion is more than ready to make his debut on the main roster. Many have believed he’s been main roster ready since losing his NXT North American Championship back last October. Oba Femi has been an integral part of NXT for the past several years, yet it’s time he plays a part on the main roster, earning championships just as quickly as he has on NXT. He’s someone who could very well win a title match as soon as he receives it, quite possibly even in his debut, if that hasn’t been discussed by WWE internally. Sheamus has been looking to win the Intercontinental Championship for a while now, to become Grand Slam Champion, yet that could very well change if Oba Femi entered the mix and defeated Dominik Mysterio to earn his first main roster title. ‘The Ruler’ has the opportunity to make a name for himself on the main roster and grow into one of WWE’s biggest and brightest stars.
Trick Williams - SmackDown
Speaking of the biggest and brightest stars, Trick Williams has been another guy in NXT who’s been main roster-ready for a while now. His recent heel turn as the TNA Champion has been a sight to behold, and he’s played the role of a face and a heel to a tee. Putting Williams on SmackDown would allow him to spend time on the same show with his former friend, Carmelo Hayes. While Williams and Hayes could stay as singles stars, they could also team up and be added to the SmackDown Tag Team Division. Williams is extremely popular, and his resume within NXT & TNA has been unforgettable. It’s time the main roster gets to experience the ‘Whoop That Trick’ chants and see Williams’ rise through the top of the card.
