Indiana Fever Superstar Guard to Miss the Rest of the 2025 Season

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season, including any potential playoff appearances, due to multiple injuries throughout the season. Clark announced the news on social media Thursday night, expressing her disappointment but determination to come back stronger. The injury, which had been lingering for weeks, forced her to shut down her season early. Her last game was on July 15th, capping a shortened season in which she appeared in only 13 games total. The Fever will now move forward without their star guard as they continue their push toward the postseason.

Clark initially suffered a groin injury earlier in the season and spent time rehabbing with hopes of returning to full strength. After weeks of recovery, she made her way back to the court, but just days before the WNBA All-Star Game, she aggravated the same injury—this time alongside additional physical setbacks that further complicated her recovery. The reinjury proved to be a turning point. After consulting with medical staff and undergoing evaluations, Clark and the Fever agreed it was in her best interest to sit out the remainder of the season to focus on long-term healing. I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” Clark wrote in her announcement. I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there. Disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty.” It was a heartbreaking decision for the young star, but one made with her long-term health and career in mind.

With Clark sidelined, the Fever will need to regroup quickly as they continue to chase a playoff spot in a competitive race down the stretch. The pressure now shifts to other stars like Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell to carry the Fever. While her on-court impact is difficult to replace, Clark’s presence will still be felt from the sidelines as a vocal supporter and teammate. Her absence is also a blow to the WNBA as a whole, which has seen a major boost in national attention, ticket sales, and TV ratings during her rookie campaign. With only three games remaining in the regular season, it remains to be seen if the Fever can squeeze into the playoffs without their star guard.
