Is ‘The Final Boss’ Coming Back to WWE at the End of 2026 or Early 2027?
Back at the end of August, WWE sent out a promotional poster for recruitments taking place in Hawaii. This will take place in addition to a live event tour in Hawaii, just as WWE did throughout South America and Mexico this past week. On the promotional poster, The Rock was added alongside Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso. With ‘The Final Boss’ not seen on WWE television since the 2025 Elimination Chamber, everyone is wondering whether the 10-time World Champion will return to the ring once again.
In 2024, The Rock made his in-ring return for the first time in eight years when he tagged with his cousin Reigns against ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins to determine whether Bloodline Rules would take effect on Night Two of WrestleMania. ‘The Final Boss’ and ‘The OTC’ would get the best over Rhodes and Rollins, but ‘The American Nightmare’ would overcome the odds and win his first WWE Championship against Reigns. This WrestleMania feud will go down as one of the best of all time. The Rock mercilessly beat Rhodes with “The People’s Belt,” gashing ‘The American Nightmare’ and wiping his blood on the belt. We knew Rhodes vs. Reigns II would be great, but adding ‘The Final Boss’ to the feud made it even more legendary.
However, the same cannot be said for 2025. The Rock came back to tell ‘The American Nightmare’ that he wanted his soul, as Rock wanted the WWE Champion at the time to listen only to him and not the fans. ‘The Final Boss’ would promise immense wealth, fame, and everything his family could wish for to come true in exchange for Rhodes soul. The Rock gave Rhodes until Elimination Chamber to decide, and eventually ‘The American Nightmare’ declined, which made John Cena, who was poised alongside ‘The Final Boss’ and rapper Travis Scott, turn heel. Elimination Chamber would be the last time we saw The Rock, as it was only Scott who showed up in the main event of WrestleMania 41 between Cena and Rhodes.
If WWE has plans to bring The Rock back for the time being, especially as we head closer to WrestleMania 43, they should certainly look to run a match between ‘The Final Boss’ and Reigns. This has been a WrestleMania match we’d most likely never see, or that’s what we thought. The WWE Universe has been dreaming of it, especially after how much time has passed since it was really brought up around WrestleMania XL. Having Reigns vs. The Rock would draw the two biggest names from the Anoaʻi family and two of the biggest names in professional wrestling, colliding two generations of greatness in Saudi Arabia at WrestleMania 43. It could certainly be interesting, especially if Rock is ‘The Final Boss’ persona. That will put him as a heel next to a babyface Reigns. This is something that is very possible now because WWE is advertising The Rock in their promotional poster for a Hawaii live event.
