Knicks Go Into Game Two Hungry to Continue Their Momentum

NBA

After every basketball fan and analyst said it would not be possible, the Knicks stole game one of the series in Boston against the Celtics. What an important game for the Knicks to prove themselves, after not being able to defeat Boston all year they put together a thrilling twenty-plus deficit comeback and earned the victory in overtime. In a game where Mikal Bridges totaled 51 minutes and Jalen Brunson and O.G. Anunoby were unguardable down the stretch, you can tell how bad the Knicks wanted this game. Now they remain in Boston for a Game Two that will certainly bring the best version of the Celtics to the table as they look to tie the series at one game a piece.

Game Insight

It is easy to look at this game and see a world where the Celtics bounce back and dominate this Knicks team, who gave all they had just two nights ago. However, I believe the Knicks will continue to flourish through the underdog mentality that will still have the Celtics overlooking New York. One huge loss for the Celtics in Game One was when Kristaps Porzingis left early with an injury and never returned. This was huge, as he has been a thorn in the Knicks’ side ever since he left the team. Porzingis is currently listed as a game-time decision for the game on Wednesday, so the Knicks will look to see if they have to adjust their strategy last minute.

Key Matchup

I am looking forward the most to the matchup between Jayson Tatum and O.G. Anunoby. These two stars went at each other in dramatic fashion in Game One, and this battle will increasingly get more intense as the series moves on. Anunoby will also have to try to take down Tatum on the boards in addition to scoring, because he was a force to be reckoned with on the glass in Game One. Tatum will have to center his attention around slowing down Anunoby in the clutch and preventing late-game shots that will hurt their team’s chances. Either way, these players will give each other all they can and contribute immensely to what will be an exhilarating contest.
