Liverpool Set to Make ‘Big Push’ for Statement Signing

Recent reports have noted that Liverpool are reportedly set to make a ‘big push’ to try and pull off what’d be a statement signing in the summer transfer window. Some sources claimed that Anfield chiefs met with Florian Wirtz in England earlier this week to potentially add the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker to Arne Slot’s Premier League-winning squad. This is despite the 22-year-old seemingly indicating that his wish is to join Bayern Munich. A fresh update which came to light on Thursday afternoon suggests that LFC are determined to do everything in their power to entice the Germany international.

With each passing day, more details of the discussions around this have come to light.  According to CaughtOffside, the project is expecting a deal which could cost as much as €120m. LFC sources are optimistic about the project that Anfield chiefs can present to the 22-year-old and his representatives ahead of their scheduled meeting, and the Reds could have two significant advantages over Bayern in their mutual pursuit of the player. Firstly, Leverkusen would much prefer to sell him to an overseas club rather than a direct domestic rival. Also, the Bavarian giants are seemingly unwilling to pay any more than €100m for the playmaker. This, of course, is just one of the many situations exemplifying the soccer’s world and how it operates in its acquisition of players. Be it at home or overseas, we see that the most important part is skill. Just like FC Cincinnati, which recently signed a 40-year-old striker. What brought him to the attention of recruitment was a smashing record, which we similarly see with Florian Wirtz.

However, there’s more. Another statement signing Liverpool aims for is securing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong. Sources say that, “Talks talks between Liverpool and Jeremie Frimpong’s camp over personal terms have advanced again today.”  “Liverpool is progressing on salary, length of contract, every detail of the agreement,” Sources said. The buzz around Frimpong’s potential arrival has intensified this week, with earlier reports suggesting Liverpool’s board is confident of wrapping things up before their final match of the season against Crystal Palace on May 25th. A swift conclusion now seems realistic.
