Looking Into the Giants Quarterback Season Plot Twist

NFL

The Giants’ quarterback room is at a level it hasn't been at in a long time. They have three top-tier quarterbacks that many fans know and love. Two of them are former Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks, Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, and one brand-new rookie, Jaxson Dart, has put life back into Big Blue since being announced as the starting quarterback during Week Four. However, there have been talks about the Giants possibly trading away one or both of their veteran quarterbacks. It is not ideal, but it is definitely something the Giants should consider; neither Winston nor Wilson has had the best time playing on the field, except for the preseason. This New York team has had nine different starting quarterbacks in the last several years, and it has crushed the Giants on multiple occasions.

Winston has not had any playtime at all this season. The last time we saw him take the field to stand in the quarterback position was during the preseason. The Giants were testing out all of their quarterbacks to see where everyone would land. Winston has been quiet but has been there helping and mentoring his teammates. The 2015 Pro Bowl quarterback signed with the Giants back in March and is helping build on a continued legacy they have already started. Fans will want to see him at some point, but not for long, as they wish to see him play Dart more than anything.

On the other hand, Wilson hasn’t done an excellent job for the Giants. The Giants had so much hope for the former Super Bowl champion quarterback; however, New York lost all three games Wilson started in. Now, it seems like this signing was a complete bust for New York. They wanted Wilson to finish the season, but fans booed him off the field by Week Four, benching him, and they started Dart. Wilson threw several interceptions, and the Giants had lost the ball on multiple occasions while he was on the field. The former Super Bowl champion quarterback put New York at a 0-3 hole before they decided to make the switch. Wilson wants to remain a Giant for the rest of the season. He’s been a backup to Dart but hasn’t done much, even to help him out. Winston’s been the one who's been stepping in to show Dart how to play better.

Dart has been the one that everyone has been watching in the Giants’ quarterback room this season. They are happy with his performance and have stuck with him since they started him in Week Four, where the rookie quarterback pulled out a huge win against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has gotten the ball passed over to Cam Skattebo or Wan’Dale Robinson when needed. Dart also runs the ball when he’s in trouble on the field. Dart has managed to throw four touchdowns in his three starts. Many have said he’s following in the footsteps of former Giants quarterbacks Eli Manning and Phil Simms.

Dart is the Giants' future, and he’s already proving it. Keeping him in to start has changed how the Giants' offense line makes plays. They actually trust him to get the plays in. When former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was in, the team struggled with plays. The Giants couldn’t find love or trust anywhere with their former quarterback, and it really showed, but with this young rookie, the livelihood of Big Blue has made a huge comeback, and it gets everyone excited. Before the rookie draft pick was made during this year's draft, the Giants were switching up on quarterbacks week after week, especially when Jones parted ways. They could not find the right fit for the starting quarterback. They had Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock at the time, but even they couldn’t manage. The offensive line fell apart completely. Now that they have Dart, everything for this team has become more organized in both the quarterback room and the way the offensive line plays.
