Who Should the Giants Put on the Trade Block?
The Giants and the rest of the NFL have reached that time of the year when it’s time to start making decisions on the possibility of who should get traded away before the league's deadline. New York has a lot that it can work with this year. They have excelled at determining who deserves to be a New York Giant and who needs to leave the Big Apple within the season. Certain players have really helped put the Giants back together, while others have just done the same thing they have in the past few years, and they have actually hurt the Giants more than they have taken a minute to slow down and help them. Here are the top three players who could hit the trade market.
1. Devin Singletary
Devin Singletary’s time with the Giants feels very short-lived. Singletary couldn’t pull off much in New York, and it looked very unhealthy on their part. The Giants had no choice but to put him in after former New York Giant Saquon Barkley left. As a running back for the team, he did not make it very far when moving the ball up the field. Even now, when the Giants put him in during certain games, it completely backfires on them, and they find themselves with another third down. The other area the Giants are looking at is Tryone Tracy Jr. and Cam Skattebo, who are much younger and have learned how to get depth in the backfield. If the Giants traded him, he would clear up much cap space, giving them more to work with.
2. Evan Neal
Evan Neal is considered to be a huge cornerstone for the Giants. However, he has been a considerable disappointment for Big Blue. They have tried everything with him at this point. The Giants moved Neal out of his original position at left tackle to correct tackle, which did not even help. The Giants drafted him several years ago as one of the top 10 in the 2022 NFL Draft. It’s time for them to move on from him and continue with Jermanie Elumenor. Neal seems to be another reminder of what could have been for the Giants, but he has not worked out for them to help give the Giants the wins that they need.
3. Russell Wilson
The Russell Wilson experiment did not go as planned for the Giants. By Week Three, they already had rookie Jaxson Dart as the starting quarterback. Wilson could not make it happen for the Giants, and it has not been lovely since then. Wilson has not made the plays that need to be made. He has thrown interceptions and made incomplete passes on multiple occasions. Fans don’t want to see him on the field because that’s how rough it has been with Wilson being the starting quarterback. It’s time for him to go somewhere else or retire. The Giants have also turned their focus to their rookies, and that is where they are at; they want younger talent such as Dart, who has already accomplished two wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers. Trading Wilson would also open a ton of cap space and leave room for new players to be back-ups to Dart.
