No Fear in Failure: Giants Rookie QB Winning Respect Through Accountability
Every quarterback who has played in the NFL has a history of how they rose from the ground up. Many of them who have been playing since college have had a strong development of who they have become. The Giants' rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is no different. He has shown maturity beyond his years during the Giants OTAs and in the Giants Mandatory Mini Camps this past week. His passing game is on point, and the staff has been building him up as he needs to be.
Dart has already learned a lot from all aspects. It starts with the two veteran quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, backup quarterback Tommy DeVito, and the rest of the team's coaching staff. They have shown him what they know and how he can do those things, and possibly even do it better. Dart has leaned into the curve and embraced everything that has happened to him. He has dealt with mistakes but has had the opportunity to grow from all of them.
This young rookie quarterback has responded with a lot of resilience. He has asked questions and bounced back from errors. Dart knows how to read a field, especially when the opposing team makes errors. Head coach Brian Daboll has enjoyed seeing him make the plays and catch the openings that he needs to. Dart has made mistakes, but it takes time to figure out what went wrong. He even stays after the practices are over to run the extra reps and rewatch the film to see what he could have done better. He’s proving that he is the New York Football Giants' future quarterback.
The New York Media and fans are hungry for the next franchise quarterback, and he may be it for the team. He shows poise and has primary accountability for everything that he does. Dart has already earned much respect in the locker room, and there will be more for him in the next several weeks. It’s still early, but his development has been crucial for this team. The staff likes what they see: a rookie quarterback building himself with a leader mentality and attacking all the setbacks before they become an even bigger issue.
