Pressure Mounting: Three Bears With the Most to Prove
Every season brings its pressure for players, but for these Chicago Bears players, 2025 is a crucial year. This ranges from high draft picks to players fighting for their starting spot. No matter what the circumstances are, the spotlight is set to be bright. Their year is not only important for the player, but it also greatly impacts the team's year. 2025 is set to be a make-or-break year for these players.
Braxton Jones
Braxton Jones was recently named the starting left tackle for the Bears. However, it is far from being locked in for the season. The starting spot had been a tough battle all of training camp, where many thought rookie Ozzy Trapilo would win. Jones was able to hold off the competition for the short term, but the competition is sure to be breathing down his neck. The former fifth-round pick is facing a career-defining season. If he can hold on to this job, it will lock him in for the Bears’ future. However, if he begins to struggle, then he may have a hard time finding a starting spot elsewhere.
Jaquan Brisker
Jaquan Brisker is the true wildcard of the defense. The former second-round pick has not been able to fully showcase his talent. We have seen glimpses of it, but unfortunately, injuries have overshadowed it all. Brisker has struggled with concussions, as he has already had three. His most recent one sidelined him for the year after only five games. In addition, he has missed games each year. The young playmaker has played in only 35 games in three seasons. With his rookie deal coming up, Brisker has to prove he is deserving of a second contract. If not, then the bears may need to start looking for other options.
Caleb Williams
Despite the solid rookie year, Caleb Williams may have the brightest spotlight on him. As the quarterback of the team, all eyes are on him. While his job may be safe for a few years, the media is sure to be highly critical of Williams. Every throw this year will not only be observed, it will be judged and analyzed. A good year may lock in the title of savior of the franchise. However, a poor year may begin to cast doubts about his ability to lead the team. The pressure is already mounting, and only time will tell how it will shape the future of the franchise.
