Ranking the Chiefs Toughest Matchups in 2025

NFL

Coming off a 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to get back on top. The Chiefs got outplayed from start to finish, and their redemption tour starts now. Led by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, this team still has the pieces to make another run. Their 2025 schedule is loaded with playoff-caliber opponents, elite quarterbacks, and primetime matchups. If Kansas City wants to get back to the Super Bowl, they are going to have to weather the storm through this gauntlet. Here are the Chiefs' five hardest matchups this season.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

The rematch everyone will be watching. After dominating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Eagles return to Arrowhead in Week Two. Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown are one of the league’s most dangerous duos, and Philly’s pass rush will test Kansas City’s reworked offensive line again. The Chiefs will look for revenge after last year's blowout in the Super Bowl.

2. Buffalo Bills

After barely defeating them in the AFC Championship last season, it is safe to say the Bills will be fired up for this game. Josh Allen always seems to play his best against the Chiefs, win or lose. With the game in Buffalo, the crowd will be loud, and the weather is always a major factor. This Week Nine matchup will be good to see where they are at before they head into their Week 10 bye.

3. Detroit Lions

Two seasons ago the Detroit Lions walked into Arrowhead on Opening Night and beat the Chiefs. They put the whole league on notice and shocked the world. They aren’t surprising anyone anymore though. The Lions have emerged as one of the best teams in the NFL over the past two seasons. Despite losing both coordinators, this is still a top-five roster in football. This Week Six matchup at Arrowhead will be very tough for Kansas City.

4. Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens look like a complete team on both sides of the ball. Their defense is physical, their run game is elite, and they’re still looking to get back to the Super Bowl. This is a likely playoff preview. With the game at Arrowhead in Week Four, it’ll be a statement opportunity for both teams.

5. Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert and the Chargers always play the Chiefs well, no matter the record. With Jim Harbaugh now at the helm, L.A. is tougher and better coached than when Brandon Staley was in charge. This Week One matchup in Brazil is an important divisional game for the Chiefs. They have to make sure they get off to a great start to begin their season.

With a tough schedule ahead, the Chiefs won’t have much room for error. If they want another shot at a Super Bowl, they’ll need to survive some of the league’s best and prove they’re still the team to beat. The road to the Super Bowl is always tough, however, the Chiefs have proven that they can get back there. If they can then watch out as dynasty talks will begin again.
