Seahawks Land Versatile Player in 2026 Mock Draft

NFL

So, the preseason is still under our belts, and the main 2025 season is still on the horizon, and people are already talking about drafts for 2026? Did I accidentally step into a fantasy football league, or am I hearing this from the NFL? Yeah, that second part is true, not that we cannot look into the future at all when it comes to football. I think that we should take a tiny step back and go one step at a time. With a lot of juicy prospects on the horizon for next year's drafting class, there already seems to be some prospective stirrups on who would be available to pick and choose from that class at all. There have been a few players who have shone out the most in their college careers and could shine out on the field as well with whatever NFL team ends up drafting them.

Now this begs the question, since losing one of their star-studded players in Bobby Wagner, who then moved on to the Commanders. Is there a possibility out there that there could be a replacement for him in the 2026 draft? One player straight out of Texas could be that shining star needed to fill the gap that Wagner had left the Seahawks themselves in his transfer. That player is All-American Linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., and ESPN’s own Field Yates had some things to comment on about Hill himself.

“One thing we know about Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald is that he likes versatile defensive players. Hill fits that mold. He brings an immense skill set as a stand-up inside linebacker, but he also has an eye-opening 13 sacks in two seasons at Texas, including eight in 2024. He showed sideline-to-sideline range that led to 113 tackles and four forced fumbles in 2024, too.” Yates had written himself.

Looking at his stats, Hill Jr has the building blocks, the foundation of a good linebacker. He stands tall at six-foot-three and weighs in at 238 pounds. What you need on the field is good teamwork, good instincts, and even on impulse, as well as a good amount of athleticism. With his well-balanced amount of rush passes, he has all of the good qualities of a linebacker blended into one. He has everything that could set him apart from other linebackers, letting him shine on the grassy turf. It also makes it feel like he is one with the team as well, not feeling at all out of place here.

Coach MacDonald has had the reputation of molding players who can hopefully take their status all the way. In the past, it happened with Roquan Smith, being able to take his game fully to the All-Pro stage on the Baltimore Ravens. Now, with that same fantastical opportunity with Hill Jr, this could give Hill Jr the same level of accomplishments as Smith. For now, there still is a long and hopefully not rough season ahead of us to look forward to before the 2026 draft can even be a reality, and not just a mock-up for fans and analysts to derive in their minds.
