What to Watch During the Giants Final Preseason Game
The New York Football Giants are preparing for their final game of the preseason. On Thursday, August 21st, the Giants will take on the New England Patriots. A rival that has lived on since the days of former Super Bowl legends Eli Manning and Tom Brady. The Giants have had a great one, and a lot has happened during these three preseason games. Big Blue has gotten its fans excited and ready to show what it can do for this coming season. They have played heavy, and hopefully, with the break, they will be able to keep it up for the first few weeks of their regular season schedule. Here are a few things to keep up with during the final preseason game and to think over the next few weeks during this small break.
Rookie Jaxson Dart has been huge for New York during this preseason. He has impressed the coaches, the team, and the fans. Dart has shown a lot of poise in completing 14 of 16 passes in one game, showing accuracy and leadership. This is what the Giants have been looking for. However, for the coming season, veteran Russell Wilson is the starting quarterback. Though from now until the start of the Giants' regular season, things can change in New York.
In this game, the Giants will see the return of their left tackle, and Andrew Thomas might see game time. The Giants have activated him from the PUP list, and he has been practicing with the team. That being said, it comes as a major boost for this season. Though it remains unclear whether he is going to play with the team or not in this final preseason game. The Giants are still being cautious with him.
The Giants also have their backfield that has been put back together once again. Rookie Cam Skattebo has rejoined the mix. He has participated in drills after recovering from a hamstring injury. Though it is believed that Tyrone Tracy Jr. may start in this game, Devin Singletary will be the backup. Skattebo is almost back to one hundred percent, which makes him a very versatile player, especially when it comes to pass-catching and physical running. He is back to full health.
This game is going to be the decision maker for everyone on the Giants. It will be the final call for head coach Brian Daboll to decide who will start and who will be the backup this season. He has already set the quarterback room, but that may change at any point this season. There are still decisions that need to be made on both the offensive and defensive lines. This final preseason game will kick off at 8:00 p.m. EST, and that’s where fans can see the final plays of the preseason before heading into the regular season.
