Seahawks Missing Best Opposing Rush Defense Before Thursday Night Matchup Against Cardinals

NFL

With just one day left before Thursday Night Football, there isn’t much time left in terms of last-minute preparations for Seattle to make before kickoff happens on opposing turf. Even though one player from the opposing Arizona Cardinals defense will not step foot on the field for this week's game. Could this mean that Seattle might have another easy blowout win like they did last Sunday? Or will there still be a tough game against the backup rush defense that Arizona has in place of James Conner, who is now out for a right foot injury? Let’s hope he can possibly make a steady recovery from an otherwise season ending incident.

On the other hand, Byron Murphy is leading the pack as one of the key pieces to the puzzle, helping Seattle get a 2-1 record so far for the 2025 season. Head coach McDonald will need to be able to come up with unique ideas. Ideas that could possibly help Seattle keep up that winning streak, possibly, in any way that they can. Murphy has been with the Seahawks since 2024, so this isn’t exactly his rookie season. While that may be the case, it does not mean that he isn’t able to have this energy still on the field with the rest of the team.

“One of your leaders, a captain, you hate that it happened.” Coach Jonathan Gannon of the Arizona Cardinals said. “That’s a bummer, just knowing what type of player and person he is, it’s tough to replace, but we have to. So that’s what we’ll do.”  It is a terrible situation that Conner suffered that injury. Even as a somewhat diehard Seattle fan myself, I wouldn’t wish a season-ending injury like that on anyone. Though it must be good luck that they were able to find a substitute this soon, to have someone in place while Conner is healing his right foot on the bench. Even though his reserve replacementTrey Benson, will perhaps put up a challenge come Thursday night in Arizona. This upcoming game will be just one of two matchups on the season schedule for Seattle this season.
