Seahawks Shutdown the Commanders on Sunday Night Football
The Seahawks head into Washington tonight to face off against the Commanders. Despite having a few more of their players with injuries, including their own starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, with a chest injury. This does not seem like the brightest spot for Seattle this season so far. Anything could have happened with tonight’s game, and it could have gone so many different ways depending on the plays made. The players who were chosen to be out on the field tonight are actually cleared to play anyway. Yet, will this have been the first game to break the streak that Seattle has had these last five games up until tonight? We just have to figure out what exactly went down tonight, that’s for sure.
The Commanders' defense was just pressuring Seattle so much from the start of the game to the end. Even if the Seahawks had tried to use their own tushy push on the field in the first quarter. That push would lead to a touchdown in the first quarter for Seattle. Even though Seattle itself was holding quite a lead in the first half of this game, scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter alone. Washington was able to snatch one right at the end of the second quarter. That would lead the game right into halftime, not long after that had all gone down.
Going into the second half, there was just so much pressure from Seattle pushing onto Washington that the Commanders just could not keep up at all with Seattle’s offense. Sam Darnold had full possession of the ball, messing with the Commanders' defense in the third quarter, too. The last few minutes on the field just seemed like running the clock as much as they could. Seattle just shut Washington out of almost any successful plays tonight. Despite the Commanders getting through one or two cracks, they didn’t break Seattle hard enough tonight at all.
Well, there you have it, the Seahawks defeated the Commanders 38-14. This was a very interesting game to watch for Seattle fans, specifically. Mainly in the way that it was such a steamroll from their offensive line. Next week, Seattle takes on the Cardinals next Sunday on their home turf.
