Seahawks Snatch Up Waived Texans Rookie

NFL

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Keydain Calligan, a rookie straight out of Southeastern Louisiana. They had waived defensive tackle Thor Griffith, who had signed for the team earlier this week but was later let go in place of Calligan. To make more room for the 90-man Seahawks roster at the time of writing this story. Calligan had originally signed for the Texans in May of this year after going undrafted in Seattle. He will now be making a change at the start of his career, and hopefully, a positive outlook will be in the cards for Calligan as well as for Seattle on top of their other situations involving rookies on the team. In his one season in Louisiana, Calligan recorded 39 tackles, four passes defended, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble. He also earned the first All-Southland Conference honor for Louisiana in that single season as well. Calligan stands six feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. He started his career at Louisiana Monroe before eventually moving on to one season at Jackson State, as well as Southeastern Louisiana.

This comes hot off the heels of multiple other situations involving Seahawks rookies. Players like Kenny McIntosh, Kenneth Walker, Damian Martinez, Zach Charbonnet, and George Holani. As well as possibly being able to sign Jacardia Wright as well. All of those players that I just listed are all part of the so-called shakeup that Seattle has been going through for the past few weeks. Plus, as the timetable before the season starts dwindles further and further. There needs to be a set-in-stone strategy for Seattle to play. That way, they aren't caught behind the rest of the NFL pack with their football cleat laces tied together.

Calligan is yet another up-and-coming member to add to the Seahawks’ rookie pile, but he can battle it out and keep his status as a rookie cornerback for the team. With his stats in Louisiana, he led his teammates there. Maybe he will be able to get a similar spark here in Seattle. After missing out on that chance with the Houston Texans back in May. However, will he be waived just like Thor Griffith, having to search and search for a third team to take him under their wings? We will just have to see the 2025 NFL season, won't we?
