Seahawks Special Teams Help Rejuvenate Life into Seattle After Week Two Victory

NFL

After a tough off-season and an even rougher first week, the Seattle Seahawks have hopefully gotten out of their slump—a victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 31-17 point game. There could have been a lot of factors that went into that win, whether or not it was certain plays that were made, or calls by the coaches during timeouts. The unsung hero of that entire game was one man, George Holani. He was able to help make the magic happen this week for Seattle, bringing in a much-needed spark that can be a big help for later on in the season.

Even with the changes that have been made to the initial game kickoff. This has not just been a change for this game, but an NFL-wide change in recent times. Will it possibly stick, though? That is to be seen as the season goes on. It has taken a bit of time to adjust to it, while it hasn't been too much of a change to entirely overthrow everything within the NFL in terms of fundamentals, either. So far, there haven't been many faults with a change like this.

This 'special team' for Seattle was able to use this fundamental change along with Holani. Even if Holani wasn't a standout player to hopefully bounce back in this week's game, he came up right from under the opposing team's grasp, being able to help push the team to victory in just a small fraction of the whole package. Holani has helped revive the kicker side of Seattle in ways that can have long-term effects from here on out. So this brings a glimmer of hope for Seattle, which still has a bit of room to work with both on and off the field.

Like many fans of the Seattle Seahawks, I look forward to seeing what happens for the rest of the season, whether or not there are a few more ups from here or some downs, maybe even a little bit in between it all, depending on whether or not they make it all the way to the playoffs and beyond this year. I'm keeping my hopes up personally, but not too high in case it all comes crashing down. You never truly know what could happen week by week following a professional football team. Let's ride the wave while we can and see where things go from this victory onward.
