The Best in the World Reigns Supreme Once Again
After losing the world title at SummerSlam thanks to a surprise cash-in by Seth Rollins, CM Punk has once again captured the World Heavyweight Championship after defeating ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Following the unfortunate injury suffered by Rollins at Crown Jewel and The Vision stabbing him in the back and leaving him unable to stand or even defend his world title. The World Heavyweight title was vacated and needed to find a new home. Punk, already the number one contender, watched as Uso won a Battle Royale to become the opponent standing across from him for an opportunity to win gold. There would be no interference throughout the match or any sort of questionable booking as Punk won cleanly and captured the championship, and once again stands at the top of the mountain. Punk has now captured the World Heavyweight title twice in the span of a few short months.
Both men delivered multiple finishers to each other, with Punk locking in the Anaconda Vice in an attempt to make Uso tap out. Uso would barely reach the ropes and escape a humiliating defeat for the moment. As Uso would seemingly come back into the match and deliver a couple of super kicks, he would suddenly find his spear reversed into the Go To Sleep. Punk knocked out Uso once and for all and covered him for the three-count, winning the match and claiming another world title reign in his historic career.
With Punk now leading the charge as the top man of Monday Night RAW, it will be interesting to see who will step up to Punk and attempt to end his reign early. Ever since Punk returned to WWE, he was determined to do things his way and wear gold around his waist. Punk was always going to end up in the main event, and now he will look to keep the world title heading into WrestleMania season in the upcoming months. Whoever steps up to the ‘Best in the World’ will have to deliver the very best of themselves to topple him from the top.
