Six-Time World Champion Pulls the Ruse of the Century

WWE

After 12 years, CM Punk finally won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship following his epic match with Gunther at SummerSlam: Night One. The moment was huge for Punk, because of his departure from the company on bad terms in 2014, if someone said he would become a World Champion in WWE again, people would have thought you were crazy. However, his celebration was short-lived because Seth Rollins entered MetLife Stadium alongside his Oracle, Paul Heyman. Rollins had been out with a knee injury for weeks, but he fooled everyone. He cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and stole the title right from under Punk’s nose.

During Rollins’ match with LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he acted as if his injury was real. Fans had noticed that Rollins was seen with crutches for weeks, which many believed was real. Now, it was clear that Rollins had faked his injury to pull off the Ruse of the Century. When he dropped his crutches on the stage and ran to the ring, fans knew what he was going to do. With one quick Curb Stomp, Rollins became a two-time World Heavyweight Champion.

The rivalry between Rollins and Punk has been going on since Punk returned to WWE in 2023. They have exchanged heated words and had great matches on television, keeping fans hooked on their feud. Many fans started to feel tired of the never-ending battle because it seemed like it would go on forever. Throughout their feud, Rollins made it clear that his main goal was to stop Punk from ever becoming a World Champion again. He was determined to be the one to keep Punk from reaching the top, no matter what it took.

For Punk, winning the title was a long-awaited moment after years of ups and downs. Unfortunately, his victory was quickly overshadowed by Rollins’ cash-in. The fact that Punk only held the title for a few minutes before losing it shows how fierce their rivalry really is. Fans are now left wondering what will happen next in this ongoing battle. Both wrestlers have a lot more to prove, and their story is far from over. Fans can only wait and see who will come out on top in this intense feud.
