The Cardinals Reveal Rivalry Uniforms: Hit or Miss?

NFL

When people think of Arizona, they think of the hot desert. The Cardinals unveiled new uniforms last week that perfectly represent the desert. The new uniforms feature a change to every aspect of the original uniform. They are meant to embody the harshness of the Arizona heat and the desert storms that are experienced in the valley. The red, tan, and copper are supposed to represent the Desert Cardinal. These uniforms are quite a change from the standard red and white that is usually worn.

How the Uniform Has Changed from the Original

Instead of the Cardinal being red with a black outline, it is white with a red outline. The typical yellow beak is now a copper color, and the area around the Cardinal's eyes, which is usually black, is also dark red. Even the facemask is different, substituting the standard grey color for red. The color of the helmet is a sandblasted matte. Just the helmet has undergone significant changes. The Jerseys present changes, too. The jersey is a sandy color with copper dots throughout. The red numbers on the jersey are outlined in a copper color. The shoulders on the jersey feature the Arizona state shape outlined in Copper with the Arizona flag filling the shape. The pants are the same sand color with a red stripe running down the outside of each leg, outlined in copper. The uniform stays simple in this way but adds more of an Arizona theme.

Hit or Miss?

The Cardinals themselves expressed excitement when talking about the new jerseys. James Conner has come out and said he thinks the uniforms are fantastic because of the desert vibe that they give off. Kyler Murray said that these were the best jerseys he has ever seen, calling them perfect. The fans online were not so positive about the uniforms. One person said the jersey looks like an old shirt that you would throw out once you're done using it to paint something. Another person compared the jersey to tortillas. There seemed to be a common complaint that the uniforms appeared to be dirty.

The Cardinals' uniforms have changed, and hopefully, the way the Cardinals finish off the season this year will change as well.  It does not matter how good you look if you can not win games. The Cardinals will need to start winning if they want to secure the NFC West title. When they debuted these uniforms against the Seahawks, they ended up losing that game 20-23. They now sit at the bottom of the division with two wins and two losses and have no momentum going forward. They will need to create momentum by getting a win soon. They play against the Tennessee Titans tomorrow in a game that they should win. Hopefully, they can turn the season around, one step at a time.
