The Cowboys Historically Bad History Versus the Denver Broncos
The Dallas Cowboys finally know where and when they’ll play next season in 2025-2026. Without counting the regular opponents in the NFC East, they’ll take their talents to face the AFC West and the NFC North, both divisions highly regarded as some of the best in the NFL. One team in particular in the AFC West has had the Dallas Cowboys' number for over 30 years now, with the last Cowboys win coming in 1995. The Denver Broncos will host Dallas in what hopes to be a Week Eight thriller where Dallas hopes they can break this curse against them.
Since the 1995 season, the Cowboys have lost seven in a row to the Broncos, where, for the most part in recent memory, it hasn’t been close. Two back-to-back blowouts the last two times they have played under Dak Prescott: one a weather delay in Denver where the Cowboys would get destroyed 42-17 and the other where Dallas was the favorite heading in with a 6-1 record, but Teddy Bridgewater and company took the lead and never looked back, winning 30-16. Tony Romo and Peyton Manning had a shootout as well the second to last time Denver was in Dallas, where Dallas would fall short 48-51, however. The Cowboys' all-time record against the Broncos still leans Denver's way, as they are 5-9 against them. Dallas did secure the most important win of them all in 1977, where they beat the Broncos 27-10 en route to their second-ever Super Bowl.
This year heading into Denver is unusual territory for all the Dallas roster besides Javonte Williams, who formerly played with them, and Prescott, as he is the last remaining member from that game back in 2017. It will be a difficult match dealing with a mobile quarterback in Bo Nix, a coach who loves to play against Jerry Jones and the Cowboys in Sean Payton, and the high altitude that comes with playing in Denver, Colorado. To give a score prediction halfway through the month of May is ambitious in itself due to unforeseen play and injury. However, it would be great for the Cowboys to break this long-going curse against the Broncos. I feel it would have to wait another four seasons for it to happen. Dallas fans should hope for the best, but with several advantages going Denver’s way, it is too much for the Cowboys. Denver wins 27-17.
