Three Potential Trap Games for the Cowboys Next Season
The Dallas Cowboys' full schedule has been released, and with the addition of George Pickens, Dallas fans can feel excited again. It is a difficult schedule up ahead for the Cowboys, playing two of the best divisions in football with the NFC North and the AFC West, but with this newly revamped roster, Dak Prescott can feel that they can play up with anyone. However, every team in the NFL knows that on any given Sunday, any team can win, bad or good. With that being there are three teams this season that, in theory, the Cowboys are better than but can give them trouble and possibly beat them.
New York Jets
The New York Jets have been the quote on quote" laughingstock of the NFL for years now, but they have given the Cowboys trouble the last two times Dallas has played at the Meadowlands, as a winless Sam Darnold-led Jets upset them in 2019 and Tony Romo threw a game-ending pick on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 in 2011. What could give the Cowboys an issue is a potential winning hangover if they could find a way to beat the Packers the week prior on Sunday Night Football. New York signing Justin Fields and a stout defense is the recipe for an upset in the making. Dallas is obviously the favorite heading in, but playing the Jets in New York has not been kind to them in the last 15 years.
Carolina Panthers
The following week, the Cowboys will take on the Panthers in Carolina for what is the third season in a row. This time, however, a new and confident Bryce Young could be the game changer in this game. With new wide receiver Tetiaroa McMillan, who Dallas desperately wanted in this year's draft, the Cowboys have the chance to give real trouble. Not to mention, the Cowboys will play this game on the East Coast at noon. The early time has the potential to be a factor in this game.
Arizona Cardinals
On the second Monday Night Football game of the season for the Cowboys, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals take their talents to Jerry World. A fun fact is that Murray is undefeated in his entire football career at AT&T Stadium, from high school all the way to the pros. The last time they came to Arlington, the Cowboys had a disappointing outing, losing 25-22, where they would also lose Michael Gallup to injury that same game. The Cardinals have given the Cowboys a hard time for several years, and this year it might continue.
