The Quiet Storm Brewing in New York: Picking Up a Golden Fantasy Sleeper in the Late Rounds

The NFL’s preseason is several weeks away. There are still multiple things to consider when building a fantasy manager's football team. If managers are looking for value to add to their team in later rounds, they may want to take the time to look into the Giants’ roster for this year. Managers may want to look at this elusive slot receiver for the New York Giants, Wan’Dale Robinson. He may not be the flashiest New York Giants pick or the top of the offense, but sometimes, really looking into the underneath, you may find something underneath the surface. 

Robinson was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft coming out of Kentucky. He has high expectations of the skill set that he currently carries. This wide receiver has dynamic speed and elite quickness and is a slot weapon. However, Robinson was out that same season with an ACL tear that ended his rookie season early. However, last season he returned and is currently working his way back up to where he was when he first started to play with Big Blue. 

He was eased back into the lineup and became a favorite underneath target. Robinson has been consistent during his games and has showcased many great things. He fits the mold of a possession receiver who can easily be a target for the team's quarterbacks, such as veteran Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart. This receiver has already built major chemistry with these two. Robinson also stood out in 2024, finishing with six targets, a 70 percent catch rate, and creating separation of 84 percent of his routes vs man coverage. This receiver is in the works for year three and a breakout season. 

He’s a fantasy sleeper for several reasons. The Giants' expansive receiver room isn’t top-notch, but it's getting there. Drafting him late would not be a problem, and it would be so much better to do it later on. Robinson shows a clear path to volume, and his health hasn’t been a concern in over a season. Robinson's offensive plays are likely to trail in games, which will give him more points to add to any fantasy manager's team. Robinson will most likely start the season as a quiet player, but he will rise several weeks in, giving fantasy managers what they want, and that is big numbers. 

In fantasy football, championships are often won with late-round picks. Robinson will not cost managers anything, but could deliver later in the season. He could also be a great flex option on a week-to-week basis. Managers should draft, stash, and get him onto the rosters for the time being when his breakout begins. Let managers who don’t draft him sleep on him, but when the time comes, managers will be happy with the outcome.
