Three Possible Opponents for the New IC Champion ‘Cero Miedo’

WWE

On the March 2nd episode of Monday Night Raw, the newest addition to WWE, Danhausen, cursed Intercontinental Champion ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio. The Judgment Day boys, Mysterio, Finn Bálor, and JD McDonagh, laughed it off. However, in his Intercontinental Championship match against Pénta, the supposed ‘King of the Luchadores’ asked McDonagh to grab the ring bell hammer, and Bálor reiterated to his protégé that Dom wanted to fight the man with zero fear or ‘Cero Miedo’ on his own. Pénta took out the former World Tag Team Champions with a suicide dive and eventually hit Mysterio with a Mexican Destroyer to win the IC Championship, his very first title in the WWE. While WrestleMania XLII is a month and a half away, we still have to wonder if ‘Cero Miedo’ will walk into WrestleMania as the Intercontinental Champion and, if so, who will be his opponent? It’s most likely guaranteed that we’ll see him defend the title at least once before WrestleMania, so the question is, who tries to step up against Pénta?

‘Original’ El Grande Americano

During the March 2nd episode of Raw, the ‘Original’ El Grande Americano straight-up told Pénta that if he were to win against Mysterio, he wanted to be the first to challenge ‘Cero Miedo’. With the ‘Original’ El Grande Americano being played by Chad Gable, it would be a great rematch as Gable was Pénta’s first opponent in WWE. That match alone helped build ‘Cero Miedo’ stock in WWE from the get-go. Seeing these two back in the ring would be perfect. Even a feud between the two that also involved El Grande Americano II would set a ton of eyes on the IC Championship picture, especially with WrestleMania coming up soon.

Je’Von Evans

‘The Young OG’ Je’Von Evans would be a great first opponent for Pénta’s Intercontinental Championship. Both superstars’ high-flying capabilities and athleticism would make for an awesome match between them. Since being called up from NXT, Evans has been the iron man of the Royal Rumble, competed in the Elimination Chamber, and should now be going after a championship. Even though both superstars are babyfaces, a series of matches between the two would be an epic showcase for Evans’ young career. With the talent these two have, this could certainly propel to be a WrestleMania program.

Finn Bálor

Perhaps the one way we get to Finn Bálor vs. ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania this year is for the ‘Prinxe’ to defeat Pénta and win Mysterio’s title. A lot of the WWE Universe banked on Bálor against Mysterio to be for the IC title, but with ‘Cero Miedo’ as your new champion, it makes it uncertain whether Bálor can win the championship on the road to WrestleMania, especially after his defeat for the World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber. This way, he could face Dom for the belt, or if that match won’t be for a title, we’ll see Pénta holding the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania against another foe. While it would be nice to see Bálor hold gold again, ‘Cero Miedo’ just won the belt and deserves to have a proper reign as champion. Yet, it all comes down to whether WWE believes Bálor vs. Mysterio should be for the Intercontinental Championship or not.
