What Does the Bears Takedown of the Eagles Mean for Chicago?

NFL

The Chicago Bears took down the Philadelphia Eagles 24–15 to maintain their hold on first place in the NFC North. The stars of the afternoon were Chicago’s explosive running back duo of D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, who combined for 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The ground game overwhelmed Philadelphia’s defense from start to finish, setting a physical tone that has quickly become the identity of Chicago’s revamped offense. With colder, windier weather on the horizon, that run-first approach will only grow more important. Defensively, the Bears forced an interception, a fumble, and multiple three-and-outs, leaving Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense visibly frustrated as defensive coordinator Dennis Allen continued to push the right buttons despite multiple injuries to key starters. Now at 9–3 and riding a five-game winning streak, Chicago enters the final stretch of the season with rising stakes and real momentum.

Next, the Bears will head to Lambeau Field on Sunday for their first meeting of the season with the Green Bay Packers. The winner will take sole possession of first place in the division, gaining a critical edge with only five games remaining. First-year head coach Ben Johnson has already secured a winning season, but securing a division title and a postseason berth remains the primary objective. Chicago is just two wins away from essentially locking a spot in the playoffs, but taking down the Packers at least once is going to be their next task if they want to win a divisional title for the first time since 2018.

The Bears defeated Green Bay for the first time in seven years at the end of last season. It was the first time since 2015 that they were able to beat them at Lambeau Field, making quarterback Caleb Williams undefeated in his first game at the stadium. Williams has thrown for eight touchdowns and only one interception during this five-game winning streak, becoming the quarterback Bears fans have been looking for. With the stakes higher now that first place for the division is on the line, both teams are coming into the game with plenty of momentum. Johnson will look for his first win over the Packers since becoming head coach for the Bears.
