What Should Fans Expect from Ron Killings Going Forward?

WWE

By now, most WWE fans know that the character of R-Truth is officially dead. Starting on the June 9th episode of Raw, Ron Killings will formally be going by his legal name, and thus, a new character is born. Fans will no longer see the comedian who has become a national treasure amongst the WWE Universe. Fans will now see a side of Killings that has not been shown since his heel turn in 2011. However, in a new era of WWE television, what exactly can fans expect from Killings? Is this the type of character direction that will put him in the world title picture or the mid-card picture? Whatever direction WWE officials decide to go with Killings, he has the world’s attention.

When Killings announced that the WWE would not be renewing his contract, the #WeWantTruth Movement was born. During episodes of Raw, SmackDown, and the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, fans made it known that they wanted the 54-time 24/7 Champion back in the company. Members of the WWE locker room even voiced their displeasure with the move to release him. This all came to fruition at Money in the Bank when Killings made his surprise return to cost John Cena and Logan Paul their match in the main event. The next night on Raw, Killing’s promo became the most-watched segment on WWE’s YouTube channel. In his promo, the two-time United States Champion thanked the WWE Universe for bringing him back, and he showed a more serious side of himself. He told the world that he would no longer be known as a side act comedian, and people would put some respect on his name. That type of passion was felt throughout the arena and by the people watching at home. The biggest point he made is when he cut off his signature dreadlocks to show that this is a new persona that he is about to introduce. So, what is next for Killings? There are a plethora of ways the WWE could go.

Killings could find himself in the mid-card title picture on either Raw or SmackDown. He has not won the Intercontinental Championship in his career, and he would be a great opponent for Dominik Mysterio. Killings has a history with the Judgement Day, and they did cost him the World Tag Team Championships when he was with the Awesome Truth. So, this could be a way for him to get his revenge on them by taking away a title from the group. Another route that the WWE could go is to put Ron Killings in the world title picture, but it is hard for me to envision that. At the age of 53 years old, if Killings were to win a world title, he would be the oldest world champion in WWE history. His history with Cena is well documented, but with this being the last ride for the 17-time World Champion, it is hard to imagine that the WWE would take the title off Cena and give it to Truth. That moment looks like it could be reserved for Cody Rhodes. As for the World Heavyweight Championship, I do not see Truth being a credible challenger for Gunther either. The Ring General recently won the title back from Jey Uso and looks to be booked to hold that title for a long time. However, it is a new era in the WWE, and under the creative direction of Triple H, one thing is for certain, and that is anything can happen.

Overall, the future is bright for Ron Killings. He is back in the WWE after an outcry of support and love from the WWE Universe. He is also hot right now, and the WWE has to book him right to capitalize on the momentum that Killings has built for himself. It is Ron Killings's world, and we are all just living in it right now, and fans cannot wait to see what happens next.
