When the Opportunity Knocked: The Giants 2022 Second Round Pick Answered the Call
Malik Nabers is out for the season. Big Blue has had no choice but to turn to someone else in need. That person has been Wan’Dale Robinson for the last few weeks. He has had unremarkable plays resulting in magnificent numbers. Robinson has managed to get his hands on the ball when needed for every play that the Giants have put on the map this season. Despite their most recent loss to the Denver Broncos, the fourth-year wideout has had a strong season and has been one of the biggest breakouts for Big Blue.
Robinson has earned himself a much bigger role for the Giants this season. He has become the guy they go to on third downs. This wide receiver has seen an increase in his targets, which started in 2024 and have continued into 2025. Robinson has registered a strong conversion rate and has given the Giants the first downs needed on each drive. He currently leads the team in slot snaps, especially when the deep game or the vertical threats are sometimes limited.
His production efficiency has gone up this season. The Giants have had no choice but to turn to him, especially when getting the ball from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. His average yard catch has even gone up. The former Kentucky Wildcat went from 7.5 to 14.1 yards per reception. Having his numbers largely jump makes him more prone to being available further up the field and gives the Giants more open-space opportunities, an area where they have been struggling for at least the last several seasons.
This season's turnaround has allowed the head coaches and the rest of the Giants to trust him completely. Robinson is five-foot-eight and weighs 185 pounds, but does his best at playing this role. He may not fit the exact wide receiver mold, but he is definitely making it work this season. Robinson is pretty shifty and finds where he needs to be when it's time for the ball to be in the air. This wide receiver has a season that no one thought he could have and Giants fans will hope that he continues his impressive stretch so far this season.
