Who Are the Top Cowboys Players That Are Set to Have a Breakout Season in 2025?

NFL

The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2025 season with a chance to change the narrative from a disappointing past season. In 2024, the Dallas Cowboys had some key injuries, including losing their star quarterback, Dak Prescott, to the injury reserve in Week Nine. In 2025, they look to start fresh and come back strong with a new positive energy from their new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, and his hiring of a whole new coaching staff. In addition, the team's offense is stacked with Prescott, who is strong and now healed, a top receiver in the league, CeeDee Lamb, and now another new leader to help out the offense, George Pickens. Alongside these three offensive weapons, we see many other key contributors that will help lead the Cowboys to success in the 2025 season. With the Cowboys hoping to make it to the NFC Championship Game, which they have not done since 1995, they will need other players, not just Prescott, to step up and make plays.

Donovan Ezeiruaku

The Cowboys selected Donovan Ezeiruaku with the 44th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a defensive end, listed at six-foot-two and 247 pounds. NFL scouts raved about him, and most scouts were extremely shocked by how Ezeirukau fell out of the first round. In Ezeirukau's senior season at Boston College, he put pressure on quarterbacks, as he recorded 16.5 sacks. With the Cowboys having to deal with Micah Parsons' contract situation, this will help Ezeirukau get reps early. He will be one of many rookies on the Cowboys radar who are trying to define themself to the Cowboys new defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus.

Cooper Beebe

In the 2024 draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Cooper Beebe in the third round. In college at Kansas State, Beebe played every position on the offensive line except center, which gave him a ton of experience when he entered the league. When Beebe was drafted last year, he finally switched to center. With another year under his belt learning and playing the new position, alongside his physicality and toughness, we will see Beebe be a key anchor for the Cowboys' offensive line. The coaching staff raves about how Beebe’s high IQ and versatility will be a key component to the Cowboys as they try to revamp the offensive line. Additionally, this will make Beebe a disruptor for defenses, and this will help the Cowboys try to find success passing and running the football. With the news that Zack Martin retired, someone on the offensive line will need to step up, and Beebe is the guy to do it.

Jaydon Blue

Jaydon Blue was selected by the Cowboys as the 149th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a high-explosive running back, and he has the whole coaching staff, along with all the fans, raving about his change of direction speed and his high explosiveness. Even though the Cowboys plan on starting Javonte Williams in Week One, he offers a different playstyle and will definitely find the field early in the season. Every time Blue touches the ball, he will have the possibility for a home run because that is the type of athlete he is. He, as a player, offers something that Williams doesn’t, which is his speed and versatility. Not only is Blue a good runner, but he is also a great receiver, which they have not had since Tony Pollard. At the 2025 NFL Combine, Blue ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, ranking him as the number two fastest running back at the NFL Draft. Blue will have defenses on their toes every time he is in the game.

In the 2025 season, the Cowboys are trying to find success with not only their veterans but also by utilizing their rookies. Brian Schottenheimer looks to set a new narrative as he came into the organization and hired a totally new coaching staff. Alongside a new coaching staff, we see Dallas has breakout candidates all across their roster, including the three talented players above. When these players have their breakout performance and perform to their full potential, the Cowboys will be a team to watch out for.
