Who Will Come Out on Top on Monday Night?

The Cardinals play the Cowboys on Monday Night in a game that they must win to keep their playoff chances alive. The Cardinals have lost five straight games and they have no momentum. The Cowboys have not had the best season either with a record of only three wins, four losses, and a tie. The Cardinals no longer will be able to lose games and still make the playoffs. With a record of two wins and five losses they have no choice but to win.

Cowboys Offensive Potential

The Cowboys have an offense that seems to be different every week. This is extremely frustrating for the fans who seek consistency. They put up 40 points against a Packers team that has been electric this season and ended up tying them in overtime. Then they were only able to put up 27 points against the Panthers. They ended up losing that game 27-30. If the Cowboys offense can get going like they were against the Packers, this would be a problem for the Cardinals.

Cowboys Defensive Problems

It is easy to point the finger at the Cowboys offense as they can not seem to finish games.  However, the defense tends to put the offense into these holes that they have to climb out of. In five of their last eight games the Cowboys defense has let the other team score 30 or more points. Good teams do not put their offense in bad situations like this.

Kyler Murray Out

Starting Cardinals quarterback, Kyler Murray, is out on Monday. On paper this should be a bad thing. However, Jacoby Brissett is a veteran of the league that knows what he is doing. Against the Colts, Jacoby Brissett threw 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He threw 44 passes and 27 of them were completed. These are not the stats of a backup quarterback. He played like a starter. With Brissett in the backfield they barely lost to a dominant Colts team, 27-31. Brissett can put the Cardinals in a position to win against the Cowboys.

Cardinals Dominant Defense

The Cardinal’s defense has been a dominant force against good teams. In comparison to the Cowboy’s defense, the Cardinal’s have only allowed more than 30 points in one game out of their seven. The defense does play like they have five losses. They are a dominant defense that could be a problem for Dallas.

Final Score

The Cowboys and the Cardinals are not having good seasons. However, the Cardinals defense has shown promise and so has Jacoby Brissett. If the Cardinals can play well tomorrow, then I see them winning 31-28. The Cowboys defense is below average and Jacoby Brissett has been playing above average at quarterback. He should have a great game and the Cardinals should too.
