Who Will Walk Out of Worlds Collide Victorious?
After the success of their first cross-promotional show in Inglewood, California, Worlds Collide makes its grand return. Live from Las Vegas, Nevada, Worlds Collide promises to be another entertaining night for fans who love Lucha Libre. Featuring stars from WWE and AAA, three championships are set to be defended on a night where history could be made. Let’s predict who will come out on top under the bright lights of Las Vegas.
AAA Mega Championship - El Hijo del Vikingo (champion) vs. Dominik Mysterio
The main event of Worlds Collide will feature two generational superstars who met in a Fatal Four-Way encounter at the previous AAA show Triplemanía XXXIII. Dominik Mysterio was close to dethroning El Hijo del Vikingo before AJ Styles attacked him and cost him the match. Although some fans were okay with the finish of the match, considering it was to continue the rivalry between Mysterio and Styles, many felt it was a missed opportunity to crown Mysterio as the face of AAA. Now that Styles is in the rear-view mirror, WWE can now focus on making Mysterio the King of the Luchadores. A win for Vikingo could spark major backlash, and with the large amount of boos Vikingo has received in recent months, WWE should solve this problem by crowning Mysterio as the new face of AAA.
Prediction: Dominik Mysterio wins the AAA Mega Championship
AAA World Tag Team Championship - Pagano and Psycho Clown (champions) vs. The New Day
After capturing the tag team titles at Triplemanía XXXIII in a brutal Street Fight, Pagano and Psycho Clown will look to hold on to those titles for as long as possible. They will face an uphill battle against one of WWE’s very best tag teams in history, The New Day. Despite a strong heel turn, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have struggled to get over with the fans as heels, but as time has passed, they have become one of the most entertaining performers on the show, no matter what segment they’re in. Woods and Kingston will give Pagano and Psycho Clown a run for their money, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the masked tag team walk out with their hands raised in victory.
Prediction: Pagano and Psycho Clown retain the AAA World Tag Team Championship
AAA Latin American Championship - El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. (champion) vs. Dragon Lee vs. Ethan Page vs. JD McDonagh
El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps at Triplemanía XXXIII when he defeated El Mesías, the same man his father defeated 16 years prior, to capture the AAA Latin American Championship. He will now have to attempt to keep his title when he faces off against three other hungry competitors looking to put a stop to his reign. Ethan Page, who currently holds the NXT North American Championship, is no stranger to Fatal-Four Way matches, as he defended his title successfully at the last Worlds Collide event in Inglewood, California. Dragon Lee also makes his return to World Collide after previously participating in the previous event in a six-man tag team match. JD McDonagh will make his first Worlds Collide appearance, but he is no rookie when it comes to facing AAA opposition. Wagner Jr. will have his hands full but will surely come out on top.
Prediction: El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. retains the AAA Latin American Championship
Faby Apache vs. Natalya
The stakes couldn’t be higher for this match as it is a Number One Contender’s Match to determine a future challenger to Lady Flammer’s AAA Reina De Reinas Championship. Natalya and Faby Apache have been going at it for the last few months, with tensions rising after Natalya cost Apache a Speed match during a recent episode of NXT. Although Natalya and Apache have been involved in two matches, this will be their first one-on-one encounter. Although Apache is chasing the title, Natalya’s recent character work makes her more vicious and dangerous, making her the perfect challenger for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
Prediction: Natalya wins
The Judgement Day vs. Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana
The Judgement Day continues to be a thorn in the side of Mr. Iguana, and they want to continue their winning ways following their victory over Mr. Iguana’s teams at Triplemanía XXXIII. Lola Vice and Iguana are also continuing their tag team adventure as Vice has grown a liking for the lizard-painted superstar. Things, however, aren’t as smooth as they seem, as Iguana’s girlfriend, La Hiedra, has voiced her displeasure over the pairing and will likely interfere during the tag team match. Finn Bálor and Roxanne Perez are hopeful in sealing the victory and continuing to elevate the Judgement Day’s name.
Prediction: The Judgement Day wins
Laredo Kid, Niño Hamburguesa, Mascarita Sagrada, and Octagón Jr. vs. LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde), Lince Dorado, and Mini Abismo Negro
This tag team showcase promises to be a fast-paced and athletic encounter. Many WWE viewers will recognize some of the superstars in the ring from previous shows, such as Worlds Collide in Los Angeles and Triplemanía XXXIII. However, many will be introduced to a couple of new faces they haven’t seen yet, such as Mini Abismo Negro. This match is a toss-up on who will take the victory, but one thing is for sure: this match will deliver on the entertainment factor no matter who goes on top. Fans will be glued to their seats when eight of Lucha Libre’s finest show off their best moves.
Prediction: Laredo Kid, Niño Hamburguesa, Mascarita Sagrada, and Octagón Jr. win
