Why a Former Women’s Intercontinental Champion Should Win the 2026 Money in the Bank Match
WWE’s Money in the Bank premium live event is taking place on Saturday, October 10th, and thus far, we already know two participants in both the Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank Matches. For the men, Bron Breakker and Je’Von Evans; for the women, Sol Ruca and the recently called-up Lola Vice. Months before qualifying matches even began, Ruca was a favorite from the get-go. The former Women’s Intercontinental Champion blossomed in NXT and has been waiting for that same moment on the main roster. While she defeated Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, Ruca’s reign wasn’t as long or as magical as the WWE Universe thought it was going to be.
Since debuting in NXT, Ruca held the NXT Women’s North American Championship and WWE Women’s Speed Championship at that time before suffering an injury, which forced her to vacate the WWE Women’s Speed Championship; then her former best friend Zaria would lose the NXT Women’s North American Championship in Ruca’s place. Once the two former friends feuded, the former Women’s Intercontinental Champion would surprisingly be called up to the main roster, where, in her first match as part of Monday Night Raw, Ruca faced former Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a losing effort. Ruca would then feud with Lynch, who was holding the Women’s Intercontinental Championship for a second time after defeating AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42. The two would face off at Clash in Italy, where Ruca would win her first main roster championship. She’d only hold the title for 57 days before dropping the championship to Raquel Rodriguez on the July 27th episode of Raw.
After losing the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, Ruca defeated Roxanne Perez by disqualification on August 3rd; then the following week, the former Intercontinental Champion and Iyo Sky teamed up and beat Rodriguez and Perez. On August 17th, Ruca defeated Lyra Valkyria, and then we didn’t see Ruca until the first Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match that featured her, Valkyria, and Maxxine Dupri. The former Women’s Intercontinental Champion hasn’t been seen given that big push since botching her signature Sol Snatcher against Lynch months ago. Now that she’s in the Women’s Money in the Bank Match, all those mistakes are in the past, and she’s ready to shine on one of the biggest premium live events of the year.
The internet could break after they see what Ruca could potentially do in this Ladder Match. The possibilities could be endless. She could Sol Snatch someone onto a ladder, or could even do an extremely athletic move off the top of the ladder, which may as well be jaw-dropping. Having the former Women’s Intercontinental Champion holding the briefcase would spell danger to the current WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer or WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green.
Both current champions facing Ruca would be new and exciting feuds the WWE Universe hasn’t been able to witness yet. Having the former Women’s Intercontinental Champion in a story surrounding one of these champions and her briefcase could captivate the WWE Universe as Ruca continues the quest to hold her first World Championship. Holding the briefcase and cashing in on the right person at the right time could elevate the former Women’s Intercontinental Champion for years to come. Ruca has the talent, athleticism, and the look to be something special in WWE for a very long time; it could all start on the main roster by winning the 2026 Women’s Money in the Bank Match.
