Why the Giants Must Win This Week Five Matchup

NFL

The Giants’ schedule is already terrifying for this upcoming season. Especially with the first four games that they are going to play this coming year. The Giants are about to get shook, even if they are going to try and have the best roster. The first two weeks they are on the road against the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders, following that is a Sunday night prime time game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and then they meet the Los Angeles Chargers in Week Four. All teams that were playoff contenders and Super Bowl worthy last season. However, in Week Five they may have a chance when they play against the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are just as much in question as the Giants. They have issues in their quarterback room with the retirement of current quarterback Derek Carr, coaching overhauls, and offensive line issues, among other things. New York may have a shot at beating them this coming season. They have a rookie team again this year. Week Five may not be a season decider, but it is definitely something that the Giants have to pull off.

They have their quarterback room led by Russell Wilson and backup quarterback Jameis Winston, who will definitely have the upper hand. That said, they will be able to outsmart the Saints and follow through on a possible win. They have Cameron Skattebo and Malik Nabers, who get the ball down the field no matter what. In the weeks before, these two might be able to pull something off with their offensive line and pull off a win against the Saints.

If the Giants somehow leave the Saints’ Superdome with a 0-5 record, it’s going to take a fast turn for everyone on the team. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen may land back in the hot seat again. No one on this team may want to see this happen, but if it does, then the Giants will return to square one and start all over again. If that is the case, it may become the breaking point for the Giants’ owner, John Mara, if these two don’t get the team back in shape. So far, after this year's draft, they definitely have already made some progress, but nothing will really show until the Giants return to the football field.

They have to work hard, and there are no spots to allow them a break. Though, when they do find the soft spots, such as this one, they need to take full advantage of them. The Giants just need to take the weapons that they have attained and use them wisely for this game. Fans don’t want a “must-win” early on, but it’s been six years of backtracking, and Big Blue definitely needs it.
