Why ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ Is About to Rejoin The Bloodline in 2026
Yesterday, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, hosted Night of Champions at the Kingdom Arena. There were many matches of importance. Two matches were interconnected in some way that could shape the WWE landscape for the rest of the year. The first saw Jey Uso take on Oba Femi in the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament. Uso was able to get some offense in, but Femi was too good. ‘The Ruler’ was the better wrestler and became this year’s King of the Ring. ‘Main Event Jey’ fired his warning shot to Femi and two of the three wrestlers in last night’s main event, but he failed to accomplish his mission in becoming ‘King Jey’. This is likely to cause a stir within the new Bloodline, especially with Roman Reigns, because he ordered his cousin to take the Undisputed WWE Championship. This will play out in an interesting way because Reigns told his family there should be no infighting or disagreements.
Femi becoming king was a pleasant surprise. Nothing at last night’s edition of Night of Champions compared to the ultimate surprise of Sami Zayn winning the main event Triple Threat match against Cody Rhodes and Gunther. Zayn became the new Undisputed WWE Champion after hitting a surprise roll-up to counter a second Cross Rhodes and getting the three-count. He’s now the newest WWE wrestler to become a Grand Slam Champion. This deserved win is important for so many reasons.
First, Zayn deserves a run as one of the top guys. The 41-year-old has been one of the most durable wrestlers in WWE over the past decade. His range of work up and down the card this past decade has been inspiring and excellent. The Canadian wrestler can work with anyone in the squared circle and make them look good while not looking weak himself. Second, Rhodes and Gunther wrote off Zayn as a legitimate threat to the title. ‘The American Nightmare’ was the one who called for last night’s Triple Threat Match; the 40-year-old also kept degrading ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ by saying that the latter could never take the title from him. The ghost of Zayn also found a way to beat ‘The Ring General’ once again, despite the odds being against the new champ. The current Undisputed WWE Champion has now beaten the 38-year-old in two title bouts. Third, Zayn was one of the wrestlers whom Uso fired a warning shot at. The two shared a tense moment backstage a couple of SmackDowns ago. The two have had a complicated relationship since ‘Sami Uso’ became a part of the original Bloodline. ‘Main Event Jey’ now likely feels some type of way with the Quebec native now walking around as the Undisputed WWE Champion, especially because he didn’t win The King of the Ring Tournament to get a chance at a title shot this upcoming SummerSlam.
The fourth, and arguably the most important reason, is that Reigns wants the Bloodline to hold all the gold in WWE. ‘The OTC’ is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Zayn just became the Undisputed WWE Champion. Since ‘Sami Uso’ is a former member of the original Bloodline and the faction finds themselves in a time where they can’t trust outsiders and know the rest of the roster is after them, bringing back the honorary Uce now would bolster the Bloodline’s strength and help move towards Reigns’s mission of the Bloodline holding all the gold in the WWE.
Zayn rejoining as Undisputed WWE Champion could also lead to new stories within the Bloodline saga. ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ did everything in his power to break into the minds and hearts of the original Bloodline, trying to prove his worth and loyalty to the family at any given moment. He kept the family intact when they least expected it. The two-time WWE United States Champion always found a way to make them laugh and break character in the most serious situations, but he was always the scapegoat for them. This helped reveal a new side of the original Bloodline. It was also one of the biggest reasons for the Bloodline saga becoming as successful as it did. Now, as Undisputed WWE Champion, Zayn’s words in the Bloodline would carry a substantial amount of weight with the title on his shoulders. He could joke around less and be more serious in the new Bloodline. This could make Jey and Jacob Fatu jealous enough to start more infighting. Jimmy Uso is always the calm and peaceful one, but ‘Main Event Jey’ and ‘Sami Uso’ falling out within the Bloodline could bring their complicated friendship full circle. The new champ is booked as a tweener leaning face. He could be the catalyst for Jey to turn fully heel and do everything to take the belt off of Reigns. Speaking of ‘The OTC’, he could bring the honorary Uce back in just to get closer to the undisputed title and manipulate his way into getting that belt on his shoulders, too.
Zayn is so intertwined throughout the male WWE roster. This is also one of the reasons why it’s good to have him as a top champion. He could always run it back with Rhodes or Gunther. Should Kevin Owens return from injury while ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ is champion, they could end up feuding over the big one. The 2014 NXT Superstar of the Year has also been ranting and confiding in Johnny Gargano the past several weeks. ‘Johnny Wrestling’ seeing Zayn’s journey to the title could break him out of his onscreen depression, have him hop off his box, and give him reason to challenge the champ. Femi could always challenge ‘Sami Uso’ at SummerSlam and find a way to unify both top titles by beating the two main Bloodline champions, should the six-foot-one Canadian wrestler return there before SummerSlam. The Bloodline is always intertwined throughout WWE, and ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ returning to his honorary family as a top champ to cause more drama makes the most sense now.
