Will ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Call It A Career at SummerSlam 2026?

WWE

At WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar seemingly retired from in-ring competition after suffering a loss at the hands of ‘The Ruler’ Oba Femi. He took off his gloves and boots and left them in the ring as he thanked the crowd in Las Vegas for all their support. This supposed retirement went right out the window once Lesnar made a surprise return to attack Femi and challenge him for a match at Clash in Italy 2026. Lesnar might have won their second encounter, but it was clear he and Femi had some unfinished business. Both men will now settle the score at SummerSlam 2026, as they will clash inside Hell in a Cell. With the show taking place in Lesnar’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is it the perfect opportunity for Lesnar to ride off into the sunset?

The former WWE Champion has been one of WWE’s most dominant superstars in history, introducing himself to the WWE Universe in 2002. WWE clearly had big plans for their former Universal Champion, putting Paul Heyman alongside him as his advocate. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ went on to win the 2002 King of the Ring tournament, earning a WWE Undisputed Championship match against The Rock at SummerSlam 2002. The combat sports icon would go on to become the youngest WWE Champion in history after capturing the title from The Rock. The Minnesota native would win the 2003 Royal Rumble match and capture the WWE Championship two more times before exiting the company in 2004 after a controversial match with Goldberg at WrestleMania XX. During his time away from WWE, wrestling's decorated amateur wrestler would dominate in the UFC, capturing the title in the Heavyweight Division.

The WWE Universe would have to wait until the Raw after WrestleMania in 2012 to see the destructive force step inside a WWE ring once again. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ made his grand return, attacking John Cena with an F5. The apex predator of WWE would feud with multiple legends of the business, such as Cena, Triple H and CM Punk. His greatest accomplishment would come at WrestleMania XXX, when Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s undefeated streak to become the one in 21-1. Since then, the multi-time world champion went on to win the WWE Championship four more times, while also winning the Universal Championship three times, winning the 2019 Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase, and winning the Royal Rumble match for the second time in his career in 2022.

Over the past few years, the once-in-a-generation athlete has made sporadic appearances but has always made an impact whenever he makes a return to the ring. His recent feud with Femi proves that he still has a lot left in the tank, but retirement isn’t too far away in Lesnar’s rearview mirror. Even though WWE’s explosive heavyweight hinted at his retirement at WrestleMania 42, it made more sense that if ‘The Beast Incarnate’ were to end his career, it should be in front of his hometown crowd. SummerSlam 2026 gives the Minnesota native the perfect opportunity to ride off into the sunset while also putting over a younger talent in Femi. A Hell in a Cell match is also a perfect fit for the crossover combat athlete to end his career, considering all the brutal matches he’s had inside the structure with The Undertaker. The stage has been perfectly set for Lesnar to walk away from the ring for good, and there’s no better place to do it than at SummerSlam 2026, the show where he won his first world title.
