Will ‘The Ruler’ Main Event Both Nights of SummerSlam 2026?
During the main event of the June 15th edition of Monday Night Raw, ‘The Ruler’ Oba Femi advanced to the 2026 King of the Ring Tournament Finals after defeating ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio. Many thought Femi would be screwed over by ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar during this semifinal match or even in the opening round. However, ‘The Ruler’ will now make it to Night of Champions on June 27th to either face Je’Von Evans or Jey Uso for an opportunity for a championship match at SummerSlam. With the former two-time NXT Champion already staking his claim to become King of the Ring, the looks of him main eventing both nights of SummerSlam are manifesting more and more each week.
At WrestleMania 42, Femi defeated Lesnar, in which the latter left his gear in the ring, signaling his retirement. Yet, a few weeks later, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ attacked the former two-time NXT Champion before one of Femi’s open challenges. This led to their second bout at Clash in Italy, where Lesnar stood victorious over ‘The Ruler’ after the 10-time World Champion hit Femi with seven F5’s. As we get closer to SummerSlam in Minneapolis, the city where ‘The Beast Incarnate’ grew up, it only seems right that their third and final bout will take place here. This will most likely give leeway to Lesnar to retire in front of his home state and hometown fans. This third and final match between Femi and Lesnar could certainly be the main event heading into Night One of SummerSlam.
If ‘The Ruler’ wins the 2026 King of the Ring Tournament against Evans or Uso, he will get his opportunity for a championship match in Minneapolis. The former two-time NXT Champion called out Roman Reigns after defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. Femi challenging Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship the same weekend, a night apart from retiring ‘The Beast Incarnate’ a second time, would break the internet. This would have to be the Night Two main event and would feature two generational talents and perhaps the older generation passing the torch down to the younger generation.
Femi’s start on the main roster hasn’t been 100%, but it hasn’t been terrible either. Having ‘The Ruler’ in the main event both nights at SummerSlam would have the entire WWE Universe talking. This would continue to make the former two-time NXT Champion one of the most popular stars in the company and boost his trajectory as a bona fide main event star. Femi vs. Lesnar and Femi vs. Reigns on back-to-back nights would break the wrestling world and allow ‘The Ruler’ to be the next must-see WWE superstar.
