Wolves Facing Big Decision with Experienced Forward

As Wolverhampton Wanderers continue their summer plans, Hwang Hee-chan might be the next to go. Battling injuries and limited minutes, the South Korean forward has struggled to find his form. Once a key attacking threat alongside Matheus Cunha, Hwang now finds himself likely to be the third option in Vítor Pereira’s attack. With Wolves already offloading Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Pablo Sarabia, Craig Dawson, and most likely Nelson Semedo, Hwang’s name could soon be added to the list.

Hwang’s production for Wolves hasn’t been what it once was. In the 2023/24 season, Hwang played in 31 matches, logging 2,249 minutes with 13 goals and three assists. Fast forward to 2024/25, and the numbers tell a different story: just 25 appearances, 868 minutes, two goals, and a single assist. While injuries have undoubtedly played a role in his decline, his form has dropped off sharply, and at this point, Wolves need to just survive next season. Wolves narrowly avoided relegation this past season, and with so many key players now gone, staying up next year will be an even greater challenge. If Wolves can sell him for anything above £20 million, that would be great.

With Wolves undergoing a major squad overhaul under Vítor Pereira, selling Hwang could help fund further reinforcements. After offloading Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri, two of our biggest attacking threats, Wolves desperately need support up front. Ideally, the club can bring in a veteran presence to support young players like Jørgen Strand Larsen and Marshall Munetsi. There have also been rumors about a potential return for club legend Rúben Neves. This move would be brilliant, with a massive boost in leadership, experience, and midfield stability. There have also been rumors about Wolves targeting Harvey Elliott and Clément Bischof, two young players who could definitely help the team.

As Wolves continue to reshape the squad, difficult decisions like moving on from Hee-chan Hwang are part of the process. The Premier League is cutthroat, and there is always someone ready to take your spot. When you get your chance, you have to be ready. You have to strive for perfection. Unfortunately, Hee-chan has been out of his element, and unless Wolves are gracious enough to give him another chance, he is likely to be sold.
