A 24-Year-Old Toyota Driver Had a Rapid Rise to Cup Series Stardom in 2026

The NASCAR Cup Series has never seen a career begin like Corey Heim's. 23XI Racing’s star youngster just won the prestigious Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis on Sunday, his second career win in just 15 starts. He claimed his first career win at Coronado Air Force Base in his 13th start. Heim beat some of the Cup Series’ top talents, such as Christopher Bell and Joey Logano. With the trajectory that he is on, Heim could already be a championship contender once he begins his full-time campaign in 2027.

Heim is coming off of the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series Championship, which he won most dominantly with 12 race victories. Heim’s performance is breaking historic records. The 2025 Truck Series Champ is the first driver since A.J. Foyt to win multiple races before he began his first full Cup Series season. He reached his first two wins quicker than every other driver in Cup Series history with 15 starts, breaking Jimmie Johnson’s record of 17 races. He is the second-youngest driver to ever win the Brickyard 400, behind Jeff Gordon, who won the first running of the race at just 23. His final interesting statistic is that, in just over a month, the 67 car went from zero wins in Cup Series history to two wins and a Brickyard 400 win, thanks to the 24-year-old.

No driver has ever had a quicker rise to stardom than Heim. Before he even competed in a full-time season, Heim has broken records set by a four-time Indianapolis 500 winner in Foyt, a seven-time Cup Series Champion in Johnson, and a 93-time winner and Hall of Famer in Gordon. In 2027, when Heim is officially full-time for 23XI Racing, the sky is the limit. The 35 Camry will be one of the cars to watch each week in 2027, and he can already be considered a potential championship threat in his rookie season.
