Bringing Back the Bite: Big Blues Defensive Identity Returns

NFL

Brian Burns isn't just making noise and getting himself on the NFL map this season. He's putting life back into the New York Football Giants, which hasn't been there in a long time. He's making the defense look stronger than it has in the past several years. He wasn't expected to dominate this early on in the season. So far, he has stacked up sacks throughout the first several games of the season. He, along with the Giants, has been looking to stay strong this season. Burns is already making significant strides for Big Blue.

Throughout the first six games of the season, he has already had seven sacks. He has also made 19 solo tackles and 11 assists. Burns is pacing at a high level as an edge rusher and is becoming a massive part of the Giants' defensive line. This edge rusher has also forced one fumble this season. Despite this being a small number, his work shows that he is much different from the traditional way the defensive line has been playing.

Over the last two seasons, Burns has had more leverage and has been able to attack from different angles. Sometimes, fans and coaches are unaware of where he will land during the defensive plays, and most of the time, he is trying to get into his opposing team's quarterback position. Burns has been successful with this on multiple occasions. This edge rusher has been successful in even sacking Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in their 34-17 win. He's been a full-on blend of speed, spin, and savage. This edge rusher has had almost everything that the Giants need to accomplish wins this coming season.

The Giants have found a defensive superstar for the first time in years. Burns has been busy energizing the Giants and proving that this is what they have been missing for a very long time. Burns's coming to New York has elevated them to a new level. He doesn't want to be remembered for his stats, but he brought depth to Big Blue and opened everyone's eyes to what they have been missing for the last several seasons. Burns is definitely the guy who has excelled on the defensive end of the team. He's looking to match up with former Giant Michael Strahan's record of having the most sacks in a single season. He will definitely be successful if he keeps going the way that he has been this season.
