Big Blue Looks to Change the Tides After Their Philadelphia Win

NFL

The New York Giants looked like a completely different team from how they have been playing over the course of the last several weeks. This Big Blue wrecking machine gave the Eagles their second loss of the season in the Meadowlands. The Giants defeated the Eagles 34-17. It’s the first time in several years that New York has beaten them. Several factors contributed to their big win on Thursday night. Everyone played a huge role, and the Giants looked like they were playing in a clean game against these former Super Bowl champions.

The New Dynamic Duo

Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo had great chemistry throughout this entire game. They were on the same page when it came to nearly every play. Skattebo was on top with his performance as well. He broke through the Eagles' defensive line. This new offensive dynamic duo together knew how to make the big plays happen. Skattebo rushed for 98 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He’s the first Giant to do so since the 2011 season. It wasn’t just Dart; the 25-year-old running back Skattebo was also able to make several breakthroughs on several occasions. It looked like the Giants were putting life into their team once again.

Quick & Snappy Pace

The Giants kept it quick and snappy while on the field. The offensive line had follow-through on most of the catches that were passed to Wan’Dale Robinson and Theo Johnson. There were points in the game when fans didn’t know who actually had the ball. Dart would quickly pull fake outs to Skattebo and run the ball himself, but he kept it fast-moving. It kept the Eagles' defense distracted. They looked sharp, and it was the first time in a while that the Giants had looked this clean.

Defense Stayed on Top

The Giants’ defense also stayed on top of everything the Eagles tried to do. The Giants kept the Eagles scoreless in the second half. They were able to sack quarterback Jalen Hurts on two different occasions. New York also intercepted the ball away from the Eagles and came close to scoring another touchdown, but they fell short of reaching the end zone. They also recovered a fumble from Philadelphia near the end of the game, sealing their second win of the season. Big Blue looked good in this game, and hopefully it will continue when they take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 19th.
