Do the 2026 Dallas Cowboys Have the Best Receiving Core in the NFL?

NFL

In today's NFL, the skill gap is the highest the league has ever seen. Wide receivers are a position group that keeps producing talent, and it seems that almost every team in the league has one or two players who can be considered one of the best in the NFL. One year ago, around this time in the offseason, I predicted that the Cowboys would rank third among the best receiver combos in the NFL, and they exceeded my optimistic expectations and became the league's best pair. Now that Dallas has the best receiver duo in the NFL and good depth surrounding them, do they have the best receiving corps entering the 2026 NFL season?

Best Duo in the League

The main reason Dallas has the best receiving corps entering the 2026 NFL season is because of the duo everyone knows of, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, which became a matchup nightmare for every team they played. In 2025, Pickens had a career year in his first year in Dallas, putting up over 1,429 receiving yards, nine touchdowns, and 93 receptions. Pickens would go on to break numerous Cowboys records for a receiver in their first season in Dallas, and his acquisition by a Dallas offense that struggled in 2024 was integral. His counterpart CeeDee Lamb had what some could consider a "down year" as he missed four games early in the year, but he still put up 75 catches, 1,077 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. The pair would help Dak Prescott return to his best form, and despite the negative connotation towards Pickens' character prior to the season, they showed why they are the best duo in the NFL.

Depth on Depth

While Lamb and Pickens receive most of the attention as Dallas's top wide receiver duo, and rightfully so, there are also some excellent depth pieces behind them. Ryan Flournoy emerged early in the season due to Lamb's injury, climbing the depth chart to become Dallas's second option, and has continued to excel since then. Now he is the team's undisputed third option. Next to Flournoy, Dallas has two different sets of serious threats they can look at with KaVontae Turpin and newly signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Even with Dallas boasting the best duo in the league, Prescott is a quarterback who trusts every player on the roster, regardless of their contract or status. This approach can lead to breakout performances from unexpected players, similar to Flournoy's emergence last year. With all the tools a quarterback could desire at his disposal for throwing the football, Dallas undeniably has the best receiving corps heading into the 2026 NFL season.
