First Round Offensive Players the Cowboys Could Draft in 2026

NFL

With the Dallas Cowboys having two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, many believe, and rightfully so, that the Cowboys should use those picks on defense. After having one of the worst defenses in the league last season, which let down what many consider one of the best offenses, costing the team several games, the thought is that the Cowboys should focus solely on drafting defensive players this year. However, head coach Brian Schottenheimer and others within the organization have pointed out that, while there is a pressing need for help on the defensive side of the football, it would be ignorant not to consider offensive players in the first round this year. The likelihood that Dallas will select an offensive player with one of their two first-round picks is low. However, what are some potential names they might consider if the fit is right?

Francis Mauigoa

It seems unlikely that a tackle with the skill set of Francis Mauigoa would fall to the 12th pick, but if he does, it would be an obvious choice for Dallas. Cowboy fans might be upset about choosing another lineman for the third time in the past four years, but the front office and coaching staff certainly would be down. The Miami tackle was a key cornerstone to their offensive line that helped the Hurricanes reach the College Football Playoff National Championship. The right tackle position in Dallas has been uncertain, as Terence Steele, an undrafted free agent, has shown himself to be a solid player ever since he arrived in 2020. However, he has also experienced some issues with inconsistency. If Mauigoa is there for the Cowboys, they will be more than happy to choose him.

Carnell Tate

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cowboys headed into it with the expectations of drafting a defensive end; however, when CeeDee Lamb fell to them at the 17th pick, it was like hitting the lottery. The Cowboys already had Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup; there was no need for Lamb. However, those opportunities don’t come around often when an elite player falls, and Dallas jumped on it. Now, in 2026, they still have Lamb; added George Pickens; and even have a solid WR3 in Ryan Flournoy. The Cowboys may not need another wide receiver, but there’s always room for improvement. Adding Carnell Tate would elevate an already elite Dallas receiving corps to even greater heights.
