Stepping into the Spotlight: Three Players Changing the 2026 College Baseball Season

College baseball has been displaying elite talent this 2026 season, and three players have proved they stand above the rest. Georgia junior catcher Daniel Jackson, UCLA junior outfielder Will Gasparino, and Oklahoma State outfielder Kollin Ritchie are prime examples of how their power programs are built for postseason play as it approaches. Each has incredible potential for the rest of the season as they will continue leading their teams to victory, and these powerhouse players make the college baseball season so captivating for fans. Jackson dominates behind the plate, Gasparino offers consistency for the Bruins, and Ritchie gives explosive offense in hopes of championship aspirations.

Daniel Jackson is setting the tone for what it means to be a catcher at the Division I College level. The Sandy Springs, Ga., native batted .478 the week of March 2nd-8th, going on for 23 with five home runs, 13 RBIs, and five stolen bases as Georgia went 5-1. Jackson leads the nation with 14 home runs and is 10 for 10 in stolen base attempts, making him the only Division I player with double-digit home runs and double-digit steals. His walk-off grand slam to run rule in Queens earned him the Southeastern Conference Co-Player of the Week honors. The Bulldogs will rely on Jackson's immense talents to carry on their momentum this college baseball season.

Will Gasparino has become one of the most feared bats on the nation's top-ranked team. The junior transferred from Texas to UCLA and has only accelerated his skills, slashing .380/.511/.930 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs through 20 games. Recently, in his best week, Gasparino went seven for 13 with five home runs and 13 RBIs to top anchor UCLA’s sweep of TCU, earning Big Ten Player of the Week. Playing for the program that has held the top spot this entire season, his growth will become evident and crucial as the Bruins fight towards Omaha.

Lastly, Kollin Ritchie is quietly rising to be a dangerous hitter in the Big 12 Conference. The Oklahoma State outfielder leads the Cowboys with 14 home runs, 37 RBIs, 78 total bases, and an .835 slugging percentage, making him a powerhouse on offense. He was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles out of Atoka High School in 2023. Still, Ritchie chose college development over pro ball, and the results fans have seen speak for themselves. His consistency this college baseball season turns Oklahoma State into a postseason contender, and the chance at the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament is underway. As conference championships approach, all three players and their teams are just warming up.
