Giants Safety Is Looking to Have Another Breakout Season

NFL

The Giants may have more playmakers than they think, who will bring them a huge year on the football field in 2025. The rebuild is going well, and every rookie and veteran player has been able to make the plays and hits at Giants OTAs these last few days. New York’s Tyler Nubin is ready to have a breakout year and prove that he is much better than he was in his rookie season. He showed great potential, and this year, he is ready to come back with more fervor to show that he’s more than what he is worth.

Nubin was a rookie standout during his first season. He was drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, immediately making his presence known and becoming a reliable player when he got playing time on the field. Nubin brought in a total of 98 tackles, 57 of which were solo, before he went out with a high ankle sprain in Week 14 that ended his season. This safety, who is now entering his sophomore season, made it a point to try and help the defensive line look better than it had been in recent years. In nearly all of the games that he started in, this young safety was able to make the stops that needed to be made, despite how the rest of the defense performed.

Nubin has already bounced back from his injury in OTAs, showcasing all of his play-making abilities during 11-on-11 drills, securing an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. To top things off, Nubin has already established a promising partnership with veteran Safety Jevon Holland, whom the Giants signed in free agency this past offseason. The collaboration of these two in the secondary will be something to watch. Nubin will also be able to learn how to be a better player from Holland, who flew around the field for the Dolphins the last four seasons.

The 2025 season will be a strong one for the former Minnesota Gopher. Nubin is going to play a pivotal role for the Giants’ defense in all aspects of the game, especially if he correctly uses the skill set that he is already exhibiting. The Giants’ safety is poised to be a star and is making even larger strides now that he’s come back stronger than he was before. Big Blue’s defense will be a breath of fresh air with Nubin and Holland, giving fans something new and sturdier to be excited about this season.
