Giants Star Rookie Back Out for the Season: How Will the Giants Go on Without Him?

NFL

Cam Skattebo is officially out for the season. During today’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered a brutal ankle injury and has been ruled out with an ankle dislocation. He was trying to catch a pass from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, but came down, landing on his leg the wrong way. After falling onto the field, he was unable to get up on his own and was carted away from the field. It may look like the Giants' season will end early, with him and Malik Nabers also out. They will now have to figure out what to do without their star rookie running back.

Skattebo was the glue that held the Giants together on offense. Skattebo already made a difference at the beginning of the season when he first debuted for the team. He could break through defensive lines that the Giants were up against. When he came off the field, the Giants began to struggle offensively. They only had two touchdowns in total after he left. Skattebo could score at least three touchdowns in previous games and maybe more.

The Giants will now have to take the time to get a replacement for Skattebo on the field. They will now put Tyrone Tracy Jr. in to cover for him. However, beyond him, they don’t have anyone else who can really step into the role except for running back Devin Singletary. Neither player may play like Skattebo, but they can still move the ball up the field. It will be a tough change for the Giants, but it’s not like they have not had to work with them for the season before.

If they were to do anything to their roster, now would be the time. The team is suffering in every aspect. They have plenty of running backs on the trade market that they will be able to pick up. Skattebo’s season-ending injury is one of the most significant blows to Big Blue this season. They will be hurting without him, and their hopes of going to the playoffs are likely gone. Skattebo will undergo surgery in Philadelphia and will be in recovery for the next several months.
