The Giants Trade Deadline Disaster Everyone Saw Coming
The Giants are working on finding a replacement this season for wide receiver Malik Nabers. It hasn’t been easy for them, and it will continue to be. They have had a sluggish start to their season, currently sitting at 2-5, roster holes that have continued to remain obvious, and the front office, which has been completely indecisive as to what they want and need to do before the deadline comes. Big Blue is not jumping on anything or even selling anything quite yet. They are currently sitting on several decisions that need help, lack assets, and are running out of time quickly.
The Giants have played seven games so far this season. They sit at 2-5; their playoff dreams seem fragile. Anywhere they want to go, when it comes to making a trade, they don’t have the leverage to do so. They are believed to be watching the trade deadline from afar because they don’t have anything they would be willing to give up, or cut the ones that are obviously clear sellers. They need to clean out the front of the house to get the help they need.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart needs a receiver that he can rely on. He’s been relying extensively on Wan’Dale Robinson, who has done great since Nabers went out. However, there are points where the ball slips through. Robinson has been the most reliable one on the team because when the ball goes to Jalin Hyatt, it slips through. The Giants can pick up on plenty of others around the NFL. There has been talk of the Giants taking on Jaylen Waddle, among others, around the league.
Many knew that the week Nabers got hurt, this would turn fast for the Giants. Their front office has been indecisive about many of their decisions. They have signaled that they have been receiving needed help, but haven’t bothered to do anything about it. Many analysts and fans saw this coming because the team is still transitioning. They have a rookie quarterback, young roster pieces to add to their puzzle, and bigger investments that they have made. Investments that weren’t needed but are currently blocking space for more. They haven’t moved on to anything; the available assets aren’t even at the premium.
However, the Giants will continue to sit back and do nothing. They will stand pat and watch all of the other teams around the league make moves for both selling and trading. The Giants have ultimately failed to do this within the last year or two. If they don’t do anything before the November 4th trade deadline, then things will turn even uglier than they already are. Things will become even more disastrous with the sense of need, expectations, and pressure. However, they lack assets and a clear vision plan. This was not hard to forecast since the start of the season.
