How Should Jaguars Fans Feel About International Games in 2026?

NFL

Over the last decade, the Jacksonville Jaguars have become the NFL’s poster child for their international slate. After 2013, the team signed an agreement that made the Jaguars play at least one game in London every season, which has been extended and is still currently active. In 2020, the Jaguars began tossing around the idea of playing two home games in Wembley Stadium every season. The team made that a reality in 2023. However, this has caused controversy and is still up for debate amongst the fan base. These two games in London, specifically home games, have caused the city of Jacksonville to lose two potential revenue makers every season. Are the overall losses worth the two home games in another country? Many fans say no.

One group in particular that continues to grow upset with the loss of home matchups is the season ticket holders. Currently, season tickets in Duval County start around $125 per game. In 2026, the Jaguars will have six games in Jacksonville due to losing two games overseas. Is it worth it to pay all that money for tickets just to see the fewest home matchups across the league? Many fans don’t believe so. However, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan, who has a lot of ties to the United Kingdom’s soccer scene, believes that these international games are an opportunity to grow the Jaguars brand and shine more light on the team in a positive way. Although “positive” may be an overstatement for the performance the team has shown on the field.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have played 14 games all-time overseas and currently have a 7-7 record. Recently, the team has played well, winning three of the last five games in London. After a blowout 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in 2025, one could question the overall impact an international game has on the momentum of a team. For the Jaguars, this was a turning point in the season. After the crucial bye week following the international matchup, the Jaguars would go 9-1 to finish out the season at 13-4. Although the international break may have helped the team from Duval County in 2025, it could always hurt them as well. The extra travel time and bye week could stall a team out, causing a loss in overall chemistry and performance. As Jacksonville has two London games guaranteed in 2026, the question will be what matchups the home fans will lose out on watching in person throughout the campaign. Hopefully not any that could decide the fate of their season, but time will tell.
