Primetime Shift: The Rookie Ready to Reignite the New York Giants

NFL

The Giants will be playing Monday night on Primetime, and they have some fantastic additions returning to their roster. During this past week’s practices, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart fully participated and has been cleared to return to play in the next several games. Since Dart entered concussion protocol, there have been many changes to this team. They lost both their head coach, Brian Daboll, and now their defensive coach, Shane Bowen. However, there are plenty of areas to investigate with Dart being able to get back onto the field and carry Big Blue once again.

Jaxson Dart Is Mobile

As much as Jameis Winston has been a success throughout most of the Giants' games while Dart has been out, it’s time for him to back down again. He is excellent in a backup position. Winston is also very mobile, but not as mobile as Dart. When Dart sees an opening, he takes it and runs with it. Oftentimes, it’s mostly into the end zone, and it helps the Giants out tremendously when they need it. Winston can pull this play off, just not as often, due to his age. Dart also keeps an eye on the field to make sure he is making the right play before anything happens. Winston sometimes struggles. He has guys wide open, and the ball ends up going in different directions. However, with Dart being back, we may see more out of this rookie than ever before. He’s been anxious to get back onto the field since he went out two weeks ago in Chicago.

There Is an Offensive Line That Works

There have been complaints about the offensive line this season. They have struggled to make plays happen on the field. However, when running back Cam Skattebo and wide receiver Malik Nabers went out for the season, they had to find a backup plan. The Giants put in Wan’Dale Robinson, Theo Johnson, and Daniel Bellinger, all players who have been able to follow through on the plays. When the ball is passed, it usually lands in one of their hands, and they can get it down the field. It helps out this rookie quarterback tremendously, so he does not have to run down the field by himself nearly all of the time. This offensive line is working even though the team is currently missing key pieces.

This Rookie Quarterback Is the Giants’ Future

This young rookie quarterback has already become an asset to his team within the first season of being a Giant. In his days at Ole Miss, he had some powerful plays. He knew how to get the ball up the field when they needed it, everything that he had carried with him to be a leader for the Giants. He has an idea of how he wants this team to play, but the coaches just need to build around him to figure out what he needs. He must play this week. They have come close with him being out for wins, but now that he is back, the Giants may have a chance this week against the New England Patriots.
