Undrafted Free Agents That Could Make the Dallas Cowboys Roster in 2026

NFL

Every year after the NFL Draft, teams gather around to try to secure the best undrafted free agents. While it is uncommon, several players in the NFL have successfully made a name for themselves as undrafted free agents. One notable example is former Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo, who became quite familiar to the NFL world. Dallas signed more than ten players in this undrafted free agent cycle, all aiming to secure a spot on the Cowboys roster. Not every player will make the roster for obvious reasons, but who are the ones with the best chance to?

Michael Trigg

The former Baylor tight end Michael Trigg had an impressive 2025 season for the Bears, recording over 694 receiving yards, 50 receptions, and six touchdowns in 11 games. Standing at six-foot-four and 240 pounds, Trigg possesses the raw talent to be able to make plays strictly due to his pure athletic build. He is also a phenomenal run blocker, which could possibly help him get playing time on the field on a crowded tight end roster. Dallas already has three tight ends, but the question marks about the second tight end, Luke Schoonmaker, open the possibility for him to make a name for himself in the tight end room. Trigg was one of the most sought-after undrafted free agents and has the opportunity to make noise in Dallas.

Kansas D-Linemen

Dallas signed two different defensive linemen from the University of Kansas, with both of them spending all four years of their college careers at the university. The first player is D.J. Withers, who recorded over five and a half sacks and 53 total tackles during his time with the Jayhawks. The other, Tommy Dunn Jr., had four and a half sacks with 64 combined tackles. While the stats may not be as eye-popping as they could be, they play their role perfectly. Both players are strong against the run, capable of shedding blocks and causing disruption for offensive linemen. The Dallas defense a season ago was one of the worst in the NFL, and almost every team Dallas would go up against would exploit it. One of the most effective ways to enhance a defense is by strengthening the defensive line. While it may be challenging for them to secure consistent playing time, their skills and intensity on defense could allow the pair to see action on the field occasionally, depending on the circumstances.
