Why Ron Killings Should Defeat John Cena

WWE

Ron Killings, also known as R-Truth, or Ron “The Truth” Killings, is set to face WWE Champion John Cena on the June 20th episode of SmackDown in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Over the past month, Killings has had quite a rollercoaster of a ride. It all started when he faced Cena on the 39th episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he came up short in quick fashion. The following week, in what was supposed to be his final match in WWE, Killings lost to JC Mateo. Just 48 hours later, he announced that he had been released from his WWE contract. The news shocked fans and wrestlers alike, leaving many in disbelief.

However, Killings made an unexpected comeback just eight days after his release. At the Money in the Bank event in Los Angeles, he dramatically returned to WWE, thanks to the #WeWantTruth movement that was trending on social media and chants among live audiences. He attacked John Cena at the end of Cena’s main event match, where he teamed with Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, who was the World Heavyweight Champion at the time. Killings’ attack set the stage for a new chapter. Later, on the June 9th episode of Monday Night Raw, Killings delivered possibly the greatest promo of his career. During it, he cut off his trademark dreadlocks and declared, “I am the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” This moment showed fans and critics alike that he is a changed man, more serious and determined than ever.

Meanwhile, John Cena is preparing for a huge match at Night of Champions against one of his most legendary rivals, CM Punk, for the WWE Championship. In the midst of this, Killings has continued to make his presence felt. On the June 13th episode of SmackDown, he attacked Cena not once, but twice. Later backstage, Killings approached general manager Nick Aldis and demanded a match with Cena the following week. Aldis quickly agreed. If Killings manages to beat Cena next week, it would establish him as a serious threat and potentially a future world title contender. Next week, Killings will be determined to make sure Cena puts some respect on his name.
