Why ‘The Young OG’ Should Win the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank Match
During the September 14th episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘The Young OG’ Je’Von Evans defeated Big Cass and Austin Theory to qualify for the 2026 Money in the Bank Match. He became the second man to qualify behind Bron Breakker, but we now know Trick Williams and Pénta have clinched their way into the match as well. The 22-year-old also became the youngest superstar to participate in a Money in the Bank Match. Since arriving on the main roster, the WWE Universe was ready to get bouncy and see ‘The Young OG’ become the youngest male superstar to win a World Championship. However, it hasn’t worked out that way on Raw, neither like it did on NXT when many expected Evans to become NXT Champion. With the opportunity to cash in the briefcase any time, anywhere, the 22-year-old could upset this extremely talented pool of competitors.
When Evans arrived in WWE in 2024, the entire WWE Universe took notice. They realized how much potential this young star has, and even though he’s not the strongest, the 22-year-old has world-class athleticism that gets everybody’s attention who's watching. ‘The Young OG’ has a bounce and pulls out moves that could put the whole audience in awe. During his time in NXT, Evans had one of the most talked-about matches at NXT Stand & Deliver 2025 against Williams and Oba Femi in a Triple Threat Match for the NXT Championship. He most notably had a great rivalry with Ethan Page, when Page broke his jaw, forcing ‘The Young OG’ to eat through a straw. Then, during the end of his NXT run, the 22-year-old teamed up with former TNA X-Division Champion ‘The Youngest in Charge’ Leon Slater. In December 2025, Evans and Slater were hand-chosen by John Cena to face AJ Styles and Dragon Lee at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cena’s final premium live event wrestling. About a week beforehand, Cena selected both men to compete in the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge Match at NXT Deadline 2025, which ‘The Young OG’ won. The 22-year-old would immediately challenge for the NXT Championship on the following episode of NXT instead of waiting until NXT New Year’s Evil. Yet, Evans would lose the match due to interference from Ricky Saints.
The WWE Universe waited for Evans’ moment to win the NXT Championship, and that never came to fruition. Now, it would be a great opportunity to put the briefcase on ‘The Young OG’. Every week, the 22-year-old continues to impress the Monday Night Raw crowd and could surprise everyone by beating out favorites to the Money in the Bank match, such as Breakker or Williams. Speaking of surprises, this past Monday on Raw, ‘The Young OG’ smacked Breakker across the face in front of the entire Vision and then had a match where it looked like the 22-year-old had the match won, but Theory and the rest of The Vision would attack him, ending the match in a disqualification. Many would have doubts that Evans could even cash in successfully, especially with Roman Reigns as World Heavyweight Champion and Sami Zayn in his second WWE Championship reign, which everyone is predicting will last much longer than his original nine-day run. However, anything could happen, as a brutalized Reigns or Zayn could allow for an easy cash-in by ‘The Young OG’. The 22-year-old has been searching for his first piece of gold since signing with WWE, and there’s no easier way to earn a World Championship than by obtaining the Money in the Bank briefcase.
